Topping Help on My Sick Short Plants

I posted separately about the well being of my plants and hope to get it remedied soon.

These guys nodes are so tight together and there are around 5/7 nodes I'm worried about taking them at the second true node. The growth at the bottom isn't very healthiest and if I take it at the second I will be removing the majority of the plant growth which seems like too much shock.

will it work If I cut above the third and remove the lowest node? will the redistribution on hormones be the same effectively as doing a true two node top.

first off I would transplant them into some pots asap. and if your worried just do it above the 3rd node and chop out the first true node branches.
