heres my pic of my 3 some odd week old WW babe. I'm curious, how do I go about topping her? Is there anything there for me to top yet? I am a complete idiot when it comes to topping, and most growing in general.wwlady2.jpg Any help will be appreciated!

I am finding this to be a very interesting and enjoyable part
of the hobby...since learning of the FIM.

The fun part, from my new perspective, is that if I screw up a
FIM (into a FIFU? ;0) then the result is the same is if I had just
topped the branch in the old fashioned way.

...and my success rate is really high so far.

There are many pages about the technique, but here is one here

Good luck,

JD

i wouldnt do it..youre cutting off 'the best' cola just so two lower ones take the spot.

do you have two of the same plants? if so, top one, and compare yields at the end of the cycle.
LMAO.. totally wrong..
You should wait til you hit the 6th or 7th node, then top at the 4th or 5th node.

My one question is, what part in that picture would be considered topping if I remove it? The tiny little leaves between the two sunleaves?

I think that the Beef might have a point....it depends on what you intend to use
the plant for...and how. i.e. i am making a batch of plants expand by FIMing in
order to us them to make clones for an upcoming crop. This makes sense.

Then again, in my tent right now is something of a SOG of AK-47s. Now, none of
these plants have been topped at all, as I want as much as possible of the growth
to stay along the mail stem.

If your flowering area lacks headroom, then topping can be useful too.

Anyhoo, good luck,

JD

Right....and look closely at beefs photo. That is a "topping".

Read the FIM link that I sent you, and what you can do is to
still stimulate the secondary nodes while still continuing to get
growth from the central stalk. I only add this as an additional option.

whats wrong about it? the plant doesnt magically grow any back..it just moves the two lower ones up, unless im wrong?
Right, forming two mains instead of 1 cola.. You don't lose anything, you gain an extra top.
I've increased my yields by doing various methods, lst, topping and supercropping on the same plant at 1 time or another during cycle.
The more even top growth you have, the hoigher your yields are gonna be, because instead of small, airy lower buds. You'll have a lot of nice top buds..

no way, if you can grab it now, do it. the sooner, the better.

thats more vegging time for the new colas to 'setup'

nick is a confused farmer.
I tell ya what smart ass.. Look at my journal and tell me who's a confused farmer.

She's to small to get a good cut on her.. Wait another wk, and when you see it just start new growth in the center, that's where you cut..
The picture java posted is a perfect example, your plant just isnt old enough to be that defined.. Patience is truly a virtue when it comes to growing.

T huxley, if ya want. Look in my journal, all those plants were topped and supercropped.....and you'll see the benefits.

dude don't worry about topping until two weeks from today's date ( from looking at what you showed ) , see how plant fills out then decide. Dont rush, in the two weeks research, then decide top, fim, or fifu .... (i did a fifu just to see....waiting on results) research is better than wasting a grow.

...and this is the sort of cabbage that can result:

apparently FIMed tops can split into more than two or even four tops.
