I recently experimented on two plants (one I topped and one I did not) and the one I topped stretched A LOT and had smaller buds grow more throughout while the one I did not stayed more compact and threw much bigger buds.

In my opinion, you should let them grow normally.. maybe trim some of the fan leaves and lower branches to increase light exposure to the entire plant. Hope that helps

I'd say let 'em roll.
Maybe play with one to learn about it and how it works.

Topping can work wonders, can cause issues. I like it for mothers, gives more babies.

I gotta say, when trimming you really learn how the plant evolves and where 'its' gonna happen.
