Transplanting?

I have heard that transplanting shocks the plant and you should only do it once right after its a seedling into possibly a 1 quart and then again into its final home. Or is it a good idea to transplant a third time increasing the size of the container more gradually?

It makes sense to me to let the root system become thick and dense in each pot before increasing the pot size but im not sure.

Transplanting can possibly stress your plant. My advice is to be very careful and dont change the conditions. My plants rarely give any type of reaction when I transplant. I put them into the bigger container and the roots say "hey guys, lets GROW!!!" and they live happily ever after ;)
