Trichome Photgraphy

Hey Everyone!
Are there any Photographer's out there?
I'd love to be able to take perfect trichome pictures. That way I could REALLY see when they're ready to pluck. Not to mention trichome pictures are just beautiful. Unfortunately though, I only have a Kodak Pixpro AZ401. It has a macro setting but I don't think I can get in there close enough. Would anyone happen to know it it's possible with this camara? Could I maybe add some kind of macro lens? I'm no photographer and really don't have a clue. I 'd hate to have to spend 4 or 500.00 to accomplish this. But I suppose it that's the only option, I'll just have to start saving my pennies. Can someone please help me learn how to do this?

Thank you!

Thank you Curious that was very kind of you! :)
However, when I looked at the thread and read the following, "Actually i use some nikon d7200, nikkor 85 mm macro lens (1:1), venus 60 mm macro lens (2:1), a classic 18/105 mm nikon lens, extension tube of 68 mm, a speed light sbr 200 nikon for high magnificence , 3 light spot, a remote for control the dslr without touch then when i shoot. I use some tripod with a macro rail velbon mag that is good for 1:1 magnificence but i need a motorized rail for more magnificence, i will have soon for better deep of field. "
I thought, whatthewhahuh? That's all Greek to me. lol I'm clueless. So my question really was, is there a way to use my AZ401? Probably not.
Thanks again, I'll keep searching.

I could get closer but this is usually all I do to get a closer look. Took this today
wow, yeah not quite the trichome pic where you can see all the clear, milky and red trichome heads. But an absolutely beautiful picture. Much closer than what I can seem to figure out at this point. This is about all I can get. Then I use my little light up jewelers tool and just think how cool it would be to get what I'm seeing there on bigger screen.

Holy crap Chuckeye now we're getting somewhere! That looks awesome! I'll bet that or something just like it would do the trick. A digital microscope/camera. Never heard of such a thing. I'm going to do a bit more research and probably pick one out! Thank you! I'll let you know and follow up with the results.
Please do !

Currently on my wish list ;)

I'm using a Nikon D7200 with a AF 105mm f2.8 lens

Maybe a grand used if you shop around. Not that bad at that level.

This gives me an image size of 6000 x 4000 pixels @ 24 - 30 MB.

On a 24" monitor I can blow the image up enough to clearly judge the state of the trichomes......

I didn't realize you just wanted trichome pics for checking harvest readiness. I thought you were interested in getting into that hobby. Good digital photography is amazing. We'll just blame that misunderstanding on Apple Fritter :) and I too look forward to seeing some of your trichome shots. I used an older handheld Celestron with a nice large LCD screen. Just another form of USB handheld microscope. The one you got will work great, congratulations.

Thank you, thank you!
I got the little microscope thingy today. Unfortunately my piece of crap android smartphone is not OTG compatible. So I ordered a couple adapters one for that phone which probably won't work and one for my PC which should. Of course there always has to be a little snag in any venture. LOL

But in the meantime. here's a couple more I got with my cheap little Pixpro AZ401. They're not too shabby. It was only $80 bucks.

that microscope you recommended is awesome. I have one, and I’ve gotten some very nice and very close up shots. Let me make my way to my PC, and I’ll toss up a couple pics I captured using that same exact instrument.

I have one of those. I just clip off a couple small buds from different areas of the plant and put it under that scope plugged right into my computer. Its easier than carrying the scope with a laptop or other device to the plant. It works awesome and you can take snapshots with it.
