trichomes

hey guys, im a bit confused, most of trichomes on a leaves are cloudy/amber but they are clear/cloudy on a buds. where should i look???

Look at the calyx. IMO trichomes are only one of several determining factors. Be sure the calyxes have swollen up to the point that they look as if there are seeds inside before cutting them down. If not, they will be fluffy and hairy.
