Hey RIU whats up-I have been growing for about 6 month now, and have had 2 harvests-both times I had gear exclusively from TGA

I have Chernobyl and then Jilly Bean.........Chernobyl I have yet to smoke but Jilly Bean was delicious.

But I have heard that TGA gear is not that great-and alot of people saying no to his stuff.

So RIU have I been doing it wrong? What seedbanks offer genetics that are superior? Possibly your top 3 strains and where......sorry if this is unorganized, dab got the best of me.....lol

Just grow it out and see for yourself.

one mans trash is another man's treasure.

grew both, had great results with both, just watch the jilly for nanners starting week 7 if the temps get high or if they are getting movement stress. happy pheno hunting.

All weed is not equal. You could have many different phenotypes of the same strain - they will all be chernobyl for example, but some will be AWESOME and some wont be worth your time.

I use Attitude seed bank. Paradise seeds has good stuff, also G13 labs, Dinafem, DNA genetics, Female Seeds, all have good stuff I've grown at very reasonable prices.

Show us a picture of this shit haha, Everyone will give you feedback on a pic. but also if you want to figure out the genetics part just grow it and see if it has a bunch of problems then you know the strain is shit and should die there haha

one more noob question haha when people say 400 grams per 1000 watt-do they mean only one plant under a 1k, or is it 1k stretches over a 5x5 area and a properly vegged/flowered plants can each pull 400 grams?

I am preparing to germinate some Sweet Seeds strains (Spain). Have read a lot of reviews of their strains on European forums but not much here.

Speed Devil
Speed Bud
Big Devil

European growers praise the germination rates, true females versus hermies and quality of high & yield very highly. We'll see. Got 2 of each in a growers pack assortment from Attitude. $26 UK pounds + S/H. Already got them with excellent service as usual.

If you train it to fill a square meter or so, yes you can pull 400 grams per plant. But if one-topping for 4-6 colas, you would get on average of 3-4ozs per plant. Put a couple under the light and you could add up to 400 grams total possibly.

Seed banks saying 400-600grams per square meter usually means in a SOG setup bro. And whoever told you TGA was crap is full of it themself. I've grown 5 TGA strains from single seeds and each is GREAT and always frosts up early. GREAT yields as well

tga may not be crap but their are a lot better out there like pardise seeds sensi star, serious seeds ak47 and kali mist, mr. nice super silver haze, black widow and its hybrids, Critical mass which is probally the best high yield strain its wicked popular in spain I got a pack on the way. sensi seeds jack herrer, soma seeds NYC diesel. I can go all day naming better strains than anything from tga seeds.

Island Sweet Skunk from Next Generation is some amazing genetics.
Finally! I feel like I am the only one to praise these wondrous plants. Hands down the winner on quality vs. Yield out of everything I have grown. On the subject of tga, they get a lot of hate basically becuse there are a lot of growers out there who have more or less been doing exactly what subcool does (I.e. making unstable crosses with one or two potent males) for many years, and they generally do not even sell their beans, let alone act like they are the Jesus of weed. You can get great moms from their seeds, but if you want reg beans for breeding purposes, with their genetics you have literally dozens of different possible potential outcomes, which isn't great unless you want to wade through a hundred or more beans looking for the one.

They mean total yield of total plants grown under that amount of light.

It could mean ONE plant, trained to have many many tops to increase yield and then kept in place with a horizontal trellis (ie "SCROG").

Or it could mean between 16-80 individual smaller plants, crown together into a little crop "forest", again to maximize yield (ie "Sea of Green").

Growing each way has its own pros and cons, which are beyond the scope of this post, but I'd hasten to add that you have to take any such published yield estimate with a gigantic grain of salt. How the plants are grown, and skill of the grower matter. . .a LOT.

But I have heard that TGA gear is not that great-and alot of people saying no to his stuff.
You'll hear mixed reviews on TGA.

In fact there is a 40+ long page thread on TGA ("are they stable") on this very board.

If you take the time to read through it, you'll hear a very broad cross-section of opinion on TGA, and why people like and/or don't like his genetics. Do that and you'll be pretty informed.

If you're too lazy to do it, the single biggest knock against TGA is that many of his lines are effectively unstabilized polyhybrids. He picks some elite strains or top lines, crosses then, does only a few generations of selection, then sells the offspring. This means that depending on the strain, the plants that grow out of any given pack of seeds are liable to have many different phenotypes, some excellent, some maybe not as excellent.

But if you're happy with what you have, that's all that really matters.

If you want to look at other brands for high quality seeds, its pretty hard to go wrong with any thing from Mr. Nice or Serious seeds just to name two of the more established houses.

Sannie has a great reputaton in terms of quality bang for the buck.

I'd also hasten to add here, that there is really no need to go for the "latest greatest" thing. Old standbys from 20+ years ago (Northern Lights, Blueberry, Bubblegum, AK-47, Skunk #1) are typically going to be easy to grow, and give good yields of high quality product.
