The drain hose to my flood n drain tray slipped off and dumped several gallons of water on the floor of my grow room. To stop it from happening again, I'm going to jackhammer the floor and install a sump basin under the veg and flowering tables as resevoirs. I'll plumb the drain lines around the base of the room, whye them together and run them outside (the grow room backs up to an exterior wall of the garage). Unions will be installed at each basin so I can drop in the pump only when it's time to change the water. The basins are made out of polyethylene which is resistant to damn near everything. I'm pretty sure most grow trays are made out of the same material.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea, simply because a fraction of the water will not be pumped out. I've already plumbed water into the room, and I have a car wash style sprayer to clean the pits. Regardless though; no matter how much I rinse, a tiny fraction of water will always sit at the bottom of the basin. It will however eliminate any accidents in the future. Any thoughts?
I posted this in the grow journal forums, but I think people go there for the pictures...
edit: forgot a link to what they look like. this is a random website i found in a google search. My price at the plumbing supply house is around 60$ each.
