using a 400 hps high bay

i have recently purchased a highbay light 400 watt hps my question is it okay to hang that vertical as it is ment to be with reflector it came with or take reflector off at this time i only have one female in a 4x4 space and do know im gonna have to keep it 4 feet away from canopy? would appreciate any help i can come by and any ideas! have a grateful night

Vertical hanging of bulbs is getting more and more common especially if your space permits. Just use the back of your hand during placement and regularly check as the plants grow towards the light.
400w in a 4x4 might be pushing it but should work fine. You can always supplemement lower and side lighting with T-5's

Agreed 100% Maybe 12-14 inches and thats why I said to use the back of your hand as a test.
