Using a Switch with S&P TD Inline Fans

Hello Everyone,
I had the idea of hooking up a switch to the S&P TD Fans so that instead of hard wiring the circuit every time you want to step up or step down the speed, you can simply switch between the two settings. You need to purchase a double toggle double pull switch. They have them at radio shack for around 3 dollars. I bought this one.

The middle 2 terminals are where the + and - of the power goes. You need to splice the black cable coming from the fan to attach to the top and bottom connections. The white and brown go to the remaining top and bottom connections. Here is a picture of how I did it, without the power cord attached yet. It will go in the middle 2 connections. You have to make sure that the positive terminal of the power matches up in the same column as the power ( that is spliced) for the fan. In other words, do not criss cross them.

Big problem with this is that the flow is reversed when you alternate between speeds. I am using a S&P TD 150, so I am unsure if it will be the same for other models.
