outdoors in a pot or in the ground?
I'd start with 1/2 strength if it's in a pot feed till you get run off if it's in the ground you can feed just about as much as you want, but a 2 foot plant a gallon of nutrients would be a good starting point.
IMO- I'd use cal/mag just as a supplement or preventative measure like once or twice a month.

Does the bottle of nutrients have instructions on it? look for the ingredients Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and potassium. The bottle should have numbers about the active ingredients. example Schultz plant food:10-15-10 these number mean how much nutrients is in it 10% nitrogen 15% phosphorus 10% potassium.

you use grow big/big bloom for veg and big bloom/tiger bloom for flower.i just been giving 1 tea spoon of each nute per gallon.also i been feed/water/feed/water

I too am going to start using nutrients and am also a beginner. This will be my 4th grow, but the first time using nutrients. What do you all recommend? I use Fox Farm soil and water average every other day, should I use nutes the same day I water or on the in between days? I grow indoors, very small, 1 plant at a time, CFL, nothing too crazy or advanced. Thank you for your time and advice.
Cheers, Papers.

start small you can allways add on later.
I like the General Hydroponics Flora Nova it's a 2 part mix. cheap and easy to use.
I started with the GH 3 part Flora series, and then I got the Flora Nova Line, then I went and Got the Bio-Bizz Line, and then the Fox Farm line. Plus a bunch a supplements.
Cal/Mag is a must IMO, just as a monthly preventative supplement.
How to feed. I'd start with 1/2 see where that takes you. If your happy and got some buds to smoke you had a good grow IMO.
But it's up to you.

Bubble Ponics IMO is a good start for beginners. If you mess up all you have to do is change to water, and wait till the plant recovers. Start over. lots easier than soil IMO.
(that's once you get over the hydroponics learning curve)

Good luck on your grow. :)

Thanks a lot for the help! I think I'm going to try Big Bloom for veg and Tiger Bloom for flower. I'll start off low and see what happens. I wonder if it matters that I'm putting it into FFOF/LightWarrior mix. I don't wanna over nutrient if that makes sense. It never hurts to experiment, that's how you get good, right? You're right though, as long as the journey is fun and I end up with a little herb, it's a win.

That soil has enough nutrients in it to last you a good 3 weeks before you need to feed.

I'm using FFOF and started with about 1/2 of what they recommend on the bottle. (Grow Big) It didn't agree with one of my plants all that well. I think it's called clawing. So I waited a few days, let them dry out and gave them just water for the next few waterings. After that I started again with the grow big at about 1/4 strength and they seem to be loving it. I feed/water/feed/water. Every other day at the 1/4 strength. From what I gathered so far with this whole project, you just have to see what your plants will tolerate. What works for mine probably won't work the same for yours. Good Luck!

1/4 strength to start is what I recommend. I am up to 3/4 strength in flowering with no problems. You do need to supplement w/ CalMag as mentioned above.
