Veg Tent

Hi all pleased to meet you all

sorry to start out my life on the forums with questions :(

As we are moving to a new area where we don't know anybody i'm going to have to set up my own grow rather than drive 50 miles.

I've tried to find out the best way of going about this and think i've figured it from the forums but as this is my first grow i just wanna double check i have everything listed that i will need to begin with before it comes to set it all up/ordering clones

now to begin with i'm setting up a tent i can use specifically for vegging with the idea of cloning from clones with 6 plants max, while also keeping electricity use relatively low, its being designed to operate 24/7 permanently moving from one tent to the other at different stages hopefully ill be ordering something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221365419...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I have a few questions for this though like would i need a carbon filter/extractor or just the extractor?, i'm looking at running two simultaneous extractors as an intake/outake (bottom/top)

have i missed anything else i would need? will 1 x t5 be able to do all 6 plants just in the vegging state?

currently deciding on the best type of soil etc i just want the tent setup correctly first

tent size i'm looking at around 1m/1.2m x 1m/1.2m x 2m will this be enough for 6 plants in veg state for the entire veg duration?

i know i need to deal with ph and feed/nutrients but i'm gunna address them once i'm in the property and i can take ph levels etc,
estate agent might have looked at me funny if i took ph levels and random measurements :)

this then also gives me a further 2 months to save/and purchase another tent for the flowering stage im looking at some variation of this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251100464532?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

i figure a 2m x 2m x 2m tent should be big enough for flowering i will address the flowering tent later, my pressing concern to begin with is the first tent setup :)

if i do things this way ill yield every 2 months or so and ill use the same amount of electricity or fairly close as opposed to using 1 tent with the mh/hps bulbs for the full cycle

will this work or am i just setting myself up to fail to start with?

also thanks for reading i know its a pretty long winded post :)

sorry i forgot to add that i need to be as stealthy as possible (missus ex/kids dad is just looking for any reason to have me arrested since i knocked him around the garden for hitting the kids)

kids will never enter the cellar but the older one might suss it with smell escaping and would only need to mention a little for his Dad to phone police, kids do have a tendency to have loose lips

Hi Levi,

Congrats on your new project, how long are you thinking of vegging for or how big do you want them to be before you flower them? I use that same size tent for vegging and have found it adequate.

i was looking at 8 weeks each for both and taking the cuttings at around 6 - 7 weeks in the veg state to keep both tents in continuous use, i might possibly need to build a shelf of some sort for the last week for cuttings but i'm not sure how much room will be left at that stage

I see what you are getting at, yes that would be plenty of room. Or you could have your clones outside the tent, you would need a separate light anyway if you put a shelf in!

In regards to smell you don't really get much when vegging so I wouldn't worry about having a carbon filter and extraction, you could put in a clip on fan for air circulation and the tent has flaps to let fresh air in. You don't need to be extravagant when making a veg tent!!

I personally use 2 300w envirolites in a twin hood and that is plenty for 1.2m x 1.2m, you could use smaller watt bulbs if you wanted?

I was looking at the light setup mainly for cost, I didn't look at the envirolite route though must have missed that one lol (its took me long enough to get to the point where i kind of see the tent up in my head)

trying to find out all the info i need from forums with varying opinions on different set ups isn't an easy task haha

yeah i was wondering more for T5 if i would need an 8 tube (24 w per tube) '4', or 4 tube (58 w per Tube) '4' version i worked these out to be around £5 per week running 24 hours although again as its my first grow i wasn't sure which would suffice

just for safety purposes id set up an extractor and keep the tent sealed mainly so if kids escaped into the cellar they would have no clue what was there, also a sealed tent with no airflow would lead to allsorts of nasty surprises i'm told

(i have a friend who uses 2 x 600 w hids in the same tent all the way through which seems a little excessive to me for his 2m x 2m x 2m tent blasting those for 24 hours for 8 weeks will easy take £20 per week electricity wise) he does get easily 20 + ounces at the end though

I wanna do something similar just more efficiently with two crops as opposed to his one even if i yield slightly less per crop in the long run id yield more, and for as cheaply as possible :)

that being said you guys have way more actual experience in doing this than me :), i can read up as much as i like but for practical experience/problems its trial by error so i appreciate any input/feedback you can give me, my only concern is i'm spending a ton setting all this up so i don't wanna fuck it up from the off,

You don't think they'd want to have a look inside the 'Tardis'? lol

You don't need to seal the vents, you have them open in the veg tent with a clip on fan to circulate the air. That's all you need. Your flower tent will be different of course.

It's easy to get carried away and spend a fortune on stuff that you don't actually need.

nah :)

Hopefully if things go according to plan if anyone was to walk into the cellar they would have no clue there was a tent there, there's a few walls which i'm building the setup around which is why i'm not sure its a 1.2m or 1m square tent to begin with,

I didn't have a tape measure with me at the time of viewing and the space i wanna use to start with is pretty tight and at the end of a narrow corridor, I wanna place it there to begin with in case we get inspected within a couple of months of being there.

If that does happen they give us 24 hours notice and i can drop some boxes and stuff in the corridor and tell them its simply storage, (once the first inspection is done with they generally leave us alone) the only way i hear of this particular estate agent coming regular is when rents not paid so they can make sure you aren't doing a runner.

the only thing i need to make sure of is its tight so they cant get past boxes i place there and the extractor fans i have can run pretty silently,

The cellar also has a pool table that's still in there so i'm going to set it up as a games room (which wont be used)

Its quite a large cellar so for all intents and purposes it would just look like a games room if anyone came snooping
