if you can scrape together a few cfl's to 'sweeten' the spectrum, you will be much rewarded
tossing in a couple of 5500k or 6400k 26w cfl's will really kick the veg up higher

I use h.p.s for both veg and flowering i have tried all the other stuff but still keep going back to the high pressure sodium. The other lights will not make that much differance stick with the light you got it will be fine. But i would build a small unit to keep the clones of the plants that you are flowering so that you are not growing from seed all the time.Cfl's with a couple of 3 ft flouresent tubes over the top of them will do the job fine.Get the flouresent tubes has low to the plants has possible this will cut down on the plants been leggy. You will need cool daylight spec to do this. But then add a couple of cfl's daylight spec again but this time get warm daylight this will give the clones that little warmth that young plants need.Don't think that you will be growing pounds though not of the wattage of the light up grade when you get a little money.

HPS will work great throughout the grow. MH for veg would be better but if you had to pick either MH or HPS for the entire grow, I would absolutely go with the HPS. Good luck.

HPS will work great through out the grow?
don't they put out a warmer spectrum of light, educing flowering. I thought my plants would go into flower way to young if I used HPS to veg. I have been using all 6500k cfls for veg. they don't seem to grow very fast.

thats why i went to hps, quicker grow, light is way more intense and can penatrate. you can veg under hps. 12 hour dark cycle induces flower.

Unless the plant is "self flowering" the plant cannot "self enduce" flowering. You do with the light cycle of 12 on and 12 off making the plant believe fall is coming with shorter days. And yes, an HPS light will work great IF thats all he has to work with.

cool. thanks guys. I am looking into moving from the CFL's to HPS. thanks for the help. So if i veg under hps I should keep some of the 65k cfls on too huh?

no just the hps. if you want you can reintroduce the cfls after you flip to flower as some side lighting.....:joint:
