A jury-rigged electrical system injured a firefighter in a blazing Victorville home containing a marijuana cache, say San Bernardino County Fire Department officials.
The house fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, along Spencer Road in that high desert city.
Crews found at least 30 marijuana plants in a growing room, Capt. Josh Wilkins said in a written statement.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries when he was shocked by a live wire from the illegally modified electrical system.
Power (had been) turned off by crews, but the modifications bypassed the breaker and Southern California Edison meter, leaving a potentially deadly electrical hazard for firefighters, according to the statement.
The fire was confined to the attic space and ceiling. Damage was estimated at $20,000. The cause wasnt immediately determined.
