Wake And Bake

Awoken from my peaceful slumber,
I seek her out and remove her lumber
she smells so sweet, her aroma hovers
We are discreet, forbidden lovers
Clumsily, I walk and stumble
to find my papers on the double
She will not wait, she is my queen
my life without her, is just obscene
I continue on my midnight creep
as every floorboard beneath me creaks
Under the door. A light. It seeps.
I thought my roommate had gone to sleep.
I knock twice, then knock again
the door pushes open and there's my friend
unaware of what may be
the finest bud he's ever seen
I fire up this savory piece
within two hits he's up with me
We burned her down to the very end
Smoked some more... and more again.

I was supposed to go to URI on a sports scholarship but was busted with a QP 2 weeks after high school graduation. I received a letter from my mom while I was in the ACI (its a prison in RI) stating that URI would no longer honor my scholarship.

We can tell from the more basic language used towards the 3rd stanza of the poem, that the writer gets more stoned as the poem goes on, this adds dramatic tension and also realizm to the poem.
