Watch out for mushroom compost pH

I used this thinking it would be a great addition for organic nutrients. Only used a 1/4 of it in the mix. I didn't think to check the pH. Weeks in I started noticing leaf spotting, wilting, dry leaves and thought it was nutrient problems so gave a little more. It continued. I did some research and learned that pH could be causing the nutrient uptake issues. I get a soil pH test kit. Lo and behold, the bagged mushroom compost has a pH of get this....fuckin 9!! I checked my soil and it was a pH of close to 8.

So I did a full transplant into soil I know works well and tossed the rest of the mushroom. My poor snow white babies are doing okay but one is severely wilted from the transplant but I think it will make it.

Lesson learned, check the soil pH if you are using something you are unfamiliar with. I've lost a couple weeks on the grow.
