i tried it and it works if watch out for one or two things doing it.
one is that the clones stem and latter roots shouldn't get any light, so it has to be done in a non-transparent cup (coffee mugs are great on the job) and that should be covered with some tin foil in addition to keep light out as much as possible (the only place in a grow where tin foil is allowed:lol:)
next is that you should change water frequently to prevent the grow of anaerobe bacteria which gone eat the young roots right away (>>root rot).

also a drop of some cloning hormone/rooting one i damn helpful.

Hey cronman, sorry I have not ever water cloned. But if you're looking to clone in cups or something I have a better suggestion. This is the newest in cloning innovations, created by me personally 6/2/07.
Read about it here.

interesting, i haven't seen the bottle stunt in quit some years now, back in my HS days an older buddy of mine did the same thing. he used normal black duct tape for fixing the bottle together, about a single strip always. used bit less soil and had the cut right above the soil line so normal 2" tape did the trick. we also experimented to use a jiffy tab instead of loss soil which worked well with small bottles. nice to see that it is still in use;)

I figured it out on my own, never knew other people thought of it. Though it perfectly makes sense to clone in a bottle, perfect for keeping humidity.

Trick is to put tape on the bottom half so the roots see no light, in my case I used electrical tape.

use some duct tape if you happen to have next time, it is lot less hassle and you won't need as much tape;) also is duct tape a bit more moister resitable the e-tape;)

and if you figured this one on your own, bright move;) saves cash would be spend for a propagation dome and hassle with stupid question what you gonna grow with it:D
