water cure for dirty outdoor buds?

I'm not trying to start a debate about air cured versus water cured bud. I'm basically wondering if water curing would help clean my buds.

As some of you know, a huge tree fell right in the middle of my grow spot where I have two Afghan girlfriends (it actually hit one of my plants, but she survived). It was in the middle of a rainstorm, and rotten bark bits and mud flew everywhere and all over my sticky girls. I tried picking it off them, but they were covered. I got as much as I could off, and that was the best I could do without ripping the buds to pieces.

The rain of the last couple weeks has washed them off a good bit, but there is still chucks of mud stuck in the buds, which have since grown around them and all that.

I imagine most outdoor bud has some dust or dirt involved, but this seems a bit extreme to me. Should I do anything differently? I know that water curing can reduce the aroma and flavor of bud (and perhaps the bag appeal and the weight as well), but other then that I've read that it preserves or even increases potency. I'm not growing to sell, so bag appeal is no problem.

Do you think water curing might be a good idea for me? If not, do you have any other suggestions? Thanks,

def water cure for that scenario, also nice wave you are riding in your avatar.
Thanks man. That's out on the Outer Banks of NC on a rare perfect day.

Turns out I'm gonna have to save your advice for next year. I discovered yesterday that tropical storm Hanna flooded my plants.

Hopefully next year third time will be a charm.
