Ok - so once again I will apologize in advance if this seems like a stupid question, but I'm at my wits end here, and almost everytime I've asked a question I've got an answer - so here goes.....
SO - obviously - I'm new to Hydroponics growing
I first bought a homemade system off of eBay for my seedlings - baby plants
It was a drip system:
Storage Tote for a reservoir, 1/4" tubing on top leading from a Water Pump, 1/8" tubes from main tube leading down into the netpots - and ultimately - plants
Now - I wanted to convert into a Aeroponic system (like Aquamist, or any of the DIY Aeroponic systems shown here on this forum)
So I went out and bought the 360 degree mini sprayers and the PVC SCH 40 pipe and went about constructing a Aeroponoics apparatus
Well, the pump that my drip system came with was 130 GPH and the water barely squirted out of the mini sprayers.....
...meaning - it didn't do the job
So I went out bought my own new Storage Tote (Sterlite from Wal-Mart for 4 bucks)
And - I went down and bought two separate water pumps from the local aquarium store
One was 264 GPH (like I saw used in one of the systems shown here in a sticky) and another that was adjustable - 382 max
Well the good news is once I hooked up either of these pumps to my Aeroponics system with the 360 degree sprayers, upon testing the definitely had the pressure to spray jet streams of water and fully water the plants -
- which by now had grown out and big so much that the roots were all the way down into the bottom of the res, and tall enough that I had to separate them - three in one Tote, three in the other
But now my problem is this - I have TOO MUCH water pressure
If I aim the sprayers up towards the net pots - (the base of the roots) the water seeps out of the top - between where the lid and top of tote meet
NOT out of the net pots, out of the LID
So I aim them down, and for the most part Ive solved my leakage problem - but to no real result for my plants
My roots are already in the water - I may as well just stick to a Drip system, or switch to a Deep Water system, which by now, by default - is almost what I have
My other problem is this:
I wanted to clone these plants, and I went ahead and bought two other totes with NeoPrene inserts (24 each) ready for cuttings
But - the sprayers MUST spray at the roots / bottom of cuttings to work effectively - and if I do that - the RES WILL LEAK
Again - I know this seems elementary in its solution, but its escaping me
I even went out and bought some DAP spray foam sealant and sprayed it all along the inside edge of the lid, thinking that would make a seal - like a Gasket of sorts.....that didn't do it
Has anyone had this problem?
I know I cant be the only one using the same equipment as everyone here that posts a DIY cloner/Aeroponics system using Totes, Water Pumps, PVC and 360 Degree sprayers - and be the ONLY guy that experienced a leak like this
Please help if you can - and/or offer any advice you can think of
Thanks in advance
Jay
