Water Test Comments

I recently had my water tested and was wondering if anyone here could give a comment or two on the results in general and/or specifically in regards to using this water with Canna coco?

pH = 7.9

Alkalinity = 131.2 mg/L

Nitrate-N = 1.6 mg/L

Chloride = 12.3 mg/L

Barium = 0.538 mg/L

Calcium = 34.7 mg/L

Potassium = .911 mg/L

Magnesium = 13.1 mg/L

Sodium = 6.18 mg/L

Sulfate = 4.62 mg/L

Hardness (calc) = 141 mg/L

All other elements such as copper, lead, zinc etc. were less than the standard detection limit. pH will need to be lowered for sure depending on how it measures after adding my nutes but how does the rest look to you?

I also measured the water with my new Hanna pen and the pH it gave (7.96) was dead even with the official test number but the PPM on the Hanna came in at 160 as opposed to the 141 on the test report but it’s close.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Must be nice to have decent water, my cal is around 70, hardness 220-300, sodium 30-40. I've resorted to mixing distilled with my tap.

About what ratio are you mixing at? Half and half?

So you wouldn't hesitate to use water with my numbers? I'm thinking I'll probably have to dilute it down for my soon-to-be seedlings. Then hoping I can use it straight after that.

I'd use your water all day long over my 400pm pH7.9 crap.

400ppm sucks man. Sorry to hear that. Do you get your water from a municipal supply? I live in a semi-rural area and have my own well so that's probably why my PPMs are reasonable. Do you use a RO filter or buy your water? I've been looking at some RO systems, found many of them pretty costly but think I may have found a couple of decent ones for around $100. I can understand how having full control of one's water contents would be a big plus.

I just use it for now. It's working. I pH it down a little though. I'm in soil so it's not that much of an issue. I'm getting a water contract soon when I go hydro for R/O.
