Missing Texas 14-year-old mistakenly deported to Colombia

(CBS) DALLAS - A 14-year-old Texas girl who has been missing since 2010 was mistakenly deported to Colombia by immigration agents and is now sitting in a detention facility waiting to come home.
According to CBS affiliate KHOU Jakadrien Turner ran away from home in the fall of 2010 following her parents divorce and the death of her grandfather. She ended up in Houston, where she was arrested for theft. The girl gave police a fake name, which apparently belonged to a 22-year-old illegal immigrant from Colombia, who had warrants for her arrest.

KHOU reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took the girl's fingerprints, but didn't confirm her identity before deporting her. Jakadrien reportedly speaks no Spanish. "How do you deport a teenager and send her to Colombia without a passport, without anything?" asks the girl's grandmother, Lorene Turner, who was able to track the girl down through Facebook. "She talked about how they had her working in this big house cleaning all day, and how tired she was," Turner said.

A month ago, U.S. authorities asked police to pick up the girl at the embassy in Colombia, but the country reportedly won't release her and she is still being held in a detention facility. In a statement Tuesday, ICE said they were looking into the matter:

"ICE takes these allegations very seriously," said ICE Director of Public Affairs Brian Hale. "At the direction of [the Department of Homeland Security], ICE is fully and immediately investigating this matter in order to expeditiously determine the facts of this case.

Her fingerprints didn't match match that of the illegal immigrant they thought she was and deported her anyway.

Yeah ignorant shit happens to ignorant people when they lie to the authorities. I bet she doesnt pull that one again! Im surprised she was able to live that long without her cell phone. By the way it wasnt Texas that deported her it was ICE.

where she was arrested for theft
I'm feeling sorry for her already.

immigrant they thought she was
I'm confused, they "thought she was" or "she told them she was"? There is a bit of a difference. So they caught a thief that told them she was an ADULT illegal immigrant and they deported her... man o' man, string them up.

  1. She is a child
  2. She didn't speak a word of Spanish
  3. Her fingerprints didn't match the illegal immigrant they thought she was
  4. How the hell can anyone possibly mistake her for a 22 year old
  5. If she were white, you all would be singing a different tune.

Which song and dance would that be? Please, by all means, educate me.

Oh and you didn't address any of my points. Please don't try and hijack this thread. She is a child, she doesn't speak spanish, she's black, her fingerprints didn't match the ones on file, she doesn't look 22 by any stretch of the imagination. Facts.

ICE is a Federal agency, not a state one, so it has nothing to do with Texas. Your thread title is obviously more misplaced anger.

ICE may be federal but the employees are from Texas. Nice try.
What? You have fallen into a logical black hole from which I fear you will never get back out. Using your logic i can blame Minnesota for the Marine that killed that kid in Afghanistan, after all he is from Minnesota. I can also blame New Mexico for having people who are "Dumb as Shit" too. In fact now that we know the product of New Mexico education must be "dumb as shit" I think we can surmise that the ICE agents were really from New Mexico, but just happened to be working in Texas. Prove otherwise.

It would be hilarious if ICE knew she was lying. That would be best practical joke. You'd never be able to prove it, there's no case against ICE, nor Texas. I'm all for Turner's law so this never happens again and appeasing liberals.
