Weed looks ok, but dosen't smell

bought some of this weed, and it looks ok to my untrained eye, but there is nothing at all of that recognizable great weed smell. Why may that be? Haven't smoked it yet, but is it bad quality?

Looks poorly trimmed, probably poorly cured which could affect smell. Still looks like it'd get you high tho :eyesmoke:

Smell as a rule doesn't have anything to do with the potency of the weed. How the weed was... Dried.... Cured (if at all) does.
Could simply be the strain also.
Question....
Why waste your time asking this ? inparticularly... BEFORE SMOKING.

Ditto on the poor trimming.

u think so? hmm, just so weird that there is no such smell as you should expect. Smells more like hay...

EDIT: cuz i have to drive my car later, guss i'll try some later tonight :)

Smoked some of it yesterday, and i did get high :) However, i got someone who knows more than me to look at it. Claimed it was kinda moist, poor work by the grower. We put all of it in a jar and made some holes in the top. Should the holes be there while drying, or should i just tape over it?

is it good to have air holes in the top lock, or should they be stored laminated in the jar? (what's left of it :))

why dont you just do it the easy way and leave you container open for a few hours to dry out your herb and then when it gets to your desired moisture level put it back in your air tight container. you can repeat as necessary to get it just right.

How do you not cure it right? It seems pretty simple to master. How could he have done it wrong? Not cured right could mean a million different things... Like if my dog takes piss on it while its curing thats "not cured right". Just seems like a pretty simple task to fuck up.

I'm not the grower nor dealer, lol. But i suppose somewhere along the line, someone were hasty and didn't give one (or more) of the processes enough time to finish.

Anyhow, i've been concealing the jar for natural reasons, but it does have holes in the top. Still seems to go slow, and what i smoked so far, i've heated up in a napkin placed on top of a heating oven, works ok :)

Guess i better find another dealer, or simply grow it myself. Seems like a fun project... :)

Curing is a fine art imo. If your bud smells like hay then Id say its likely that the herb wasnt even cured in the first place. probably just sold to a buyer right after drying.

Probably a crappy plant to start with... I have abused good plants and had great smoke and tried hard with bad strains and bad smoke. Just smoke it, it wont get better, holes or no holes

looks premature too. definitely a shitty cure (if there was one at all) and curing is trickier to master than it would seem. it's a dance and it varies with strain. slap whoever grew that and sold it as kind.

You ain't "Whistling Dixie" my friend. Exactly right! This is one the most under rated pieces of the growing puzzle. Too much good weed gets "wrecked" from improper drying and curing. And it's NOT that bloody easy either, you must monitor temp. and humidity very closely, during drying. Choose exactly the right time to jar it up, then "burp" it on a regular schedule. No Coco, it's not rocket science, but, LOL, damn close! Good Luck & good grow.......BB

I appreciate it BB, ill definitely be paying close attention to how i cure. I would have anyway, but now I will chant your name in a ritualistic custom each time I burp my jars.. I was the victim of dime sack of hay/weed recently, and this is now why Ive started my first grow.
