What you would be doing is called Monster Cropping. Its like revegging a flowering plant but your using the clone itself. That said, expect a very long time recovery before it goes back to normal growth. From cutting to normal growth could take 3 weeks or over a month. Once it resume its normal growth, you'll end up with a very bushy plant since each bud site will produce multiple branches. The longer you're in the flowering stage the longer it takes to grow to normal growth.
When you do your cut, you have to immediately dip it at least in water and let it stay there until you're ready to put it in your cloning medium. If you expose the cuttings to air, air will get inside the stem and that's absolutely fatal to cuttings. Also, cut the leaves in half, these reduce the cuttings transpiration until they rooted and form new growth.
