Weird yellowing of leaves?

I am new to growing. Was given 6 clones that weren’t grea to “practice with”. When they got here they were root bound and extremely stretched tall and lanky. All leaves discolored.

right away I have ran into problems. The guy I got them from told me to keep the t5 fluorescents 2ft above plants. And told me what nutrients to mix in.

Well I learned fast I got bad advice. I way overwatered the plants. Over first week to where now 4 days later the soil is still wet 2” down. And they were lacking light. After research I have lowered the light and keep testing the soil with a moisture detector to try and even it out. All of the yellow leaves they had when they got here have started to rust. But tons of new growth was looking great. But I noticed today even the new growth has some yellow on them.

I am trying to figure out if this is some kind of deficiency or just from the plant trying to recover and I just have to wait

also I have used a magnifying glass and checked every inch of these plants for bugs. Nothing.

The one leaf is a brand new leaf that just opened today. Could mites damage it that quickly?

yes eventually they will reproduce at exponential rates with access to food, clones are notorious for bringing pests with them. is your source clean? could you drag pests in from pets?

look at the under side of your leaves

The guy I got them from all of his looked good these were extras just at edge he would have tossed. And nothing can get into the area they are in pet wise.

they are so Incredibly small and hard to spot but you see one you'll know their evil face. get some neem oil

okay I will do that. It’s weird it’s just some leaves. The one dark leaf is the highest leaf on the plant with small yellow spots. The others that have the yellow discoloration is new growths about half way down the plant.

and I had checked with a magnifying glass and saw nothing on any leaves. No bugs, poop, ect.So was hoping it wasn’t that.

After going over all the leaves again I found this on the bottom of only one leaf.

You were saying the soil is still wet after an over watering 4 days prior? Could possibly be not enough perlite/soil mixture. My soil is like 40/60 perlite/soil and even if i drown em a lil and get some run off, the soil is dry a couple days later 2 inches down. Two inches down is a great rule of thumb, but also do a lift test, and get a feel for how heavy the planter should be AFTER a watering. Get some good air flow through with multiple fans to help with the soil drying. I use like 5 little fans but no direct wind hitting my plants.

I used what I had been told, so only thing in pot is Happy Frog soil.

Damn mites they got youuuu

I'd spray with neem its a great natural insecticide

pray and hope they die i just went thru hell this summer with them.

So that does look like mites that I sent pic of on under side of leaf? Just any Neem oil spray will work? Or should I grab a particular one?

I like the ready to go and it depends on their ability to survive and adapt, I sprayed for 2 weeks once daily to starve them out. that's all neem is a way to cut their food supply.

alright that is what I will do. Is there anything I can do to help the pots dry up from when I over watered?
I bought one of those moisture detectors. And first inch is dry , 2nd inch moist, and 3rd jumps all the way to wet.

do a pick up test, next time you soak get a mental note of how heavy the pot is then when its light, water again. sometimes it's easy to fill an empty pot with dry soil until you get the feel for "light"
