What are you watching?

Pretty good WW2 movie, filled with all the cliches of the era and genre, but good action scenes. No actual war footage but good re-creation(s) given no CGI. Real PT boats used.

Circa 1950's. Good aerial filming (filmed from a Mitchell B-25), use of miniatures and actual carrier flight deck (Essex-class) evolutions.
F9F jets, Sikorsky H-5 helicopters. Well done for the era. Oscar for best special effects.

Guess they have a channel for everything. Billiards channel although as far as I've seen these are what we would call pool (8/ball, 9/ball etc.), played on tables with pockets. When I was 12-17, I worked at our local YMCA and spent a lot of hours there. They also had single rooms to rent occupied by mostly old guys down on their luck. They had true carom billiards tables (no pockets). These were massive, ancient, well kept 5x10' Brunswick-Balke-Collender tables. (Today's tables are 9') Some of these old guys could hardly stand up but once they stepped up to the table, boy could they shoot. It's where and how I learned to play. Sadly our town doesn't even have any full size tables in it anymore. I haven't played in 40 years and was once pretty good but like pistol shootin', it's perishable skill set.

I never stay interested enough to watch pool on tv, when it is on. But i’ll watch bowling lol.
I have an older Olhausen 7’ table that Is stored in the shop. Very quality table, 1 piece slate, but it’s golden oak and only 7’ so i’m not putting that in the new house. A fun table no less. Tight pockets that Olhausen is known for. Great practice table. It’s currently got a ping pong table top on it with shitloads of things stacked on that lol.

The plan is to buy a table + dining table conversion for the billiard/“dining room” that i designed for it. I also roughed in plumbing for the bar in there I want but still haven’t done that yet either. Some day.
Still got my Super Aramith Pro balls and my bad ass sticks just waiting :-(

No bowling alleys left in town either :(. May uncle taught me to bowl when I spent a summer in Philadelphia when I was 10 or so. He was a 300 bowler and was on "Make that Spare" several times. Bowling was a big deal back in the 60's and Uncle Ed knew everybody.
