you can plant it a wooden box, you only need to take care of the wiring, dont let it be too close to the wood, all you need is a wire for the lamp, other wires can be external to the room, just make a safe wire tube to pass the wire throught the wood and close it with caulking from both ends, this should prevent any type of fire. actually with proper wiring and good breakers, risk of fire is minimal.

you will be absolutely fine as long as you have proper ventilation you should never reach a point anywhere even close to where the wood would spontaneusly burst into flame. it aint hard to wire it up or set up venting, im sure your more than capable of doing so. alot of people use old dressers or wardrobes or cabinets(for years sometimes) and we are all ok, i wouldnt use them myself if i wasnt 100% sure of the safety of it, so im sure you'll do fine.

I drilled in 3 double battens onto a flat rectangle square pine board rating 18W each tube. The wood felt warm but i had a fan venting air inside. Had no holes for air to be vent outside, but air will go through the edges.
