what medium should I use?

Thanks to everyone involved with making this site what it is. This is my first grow. I'm using clay pellets in an ebb flow system. I was given clones that were rooted in plugs( they seem to be soil encased in a fine netting-purchased at WalMart with the dome container included). I was told by the person I got them from, who has only grown in soil, that I could put them in a pot of pellets as is. It has been 8 weeks and it seems the "soil" is holding too much moisture which is allowing mold and damping off.
My question is, what medium/substrate should I use to root my new cuttings that will be going into my ebb flow with clay pellets?

Peat pots (with soil mix), rockwool, rapid rooters or jiffy pellets are all choices.

rock wool is the way to go my friend.
