What PH level to water Sprouts that are in Rockwool

I'm aware that you need to have your Rockwool soaked in water of a ph around 5.5. I was wondering though as i have searched every where, what ph do you water the rockwool cubes with once they dry out. Once they are soaked the Rockwool will they no longer raise the PH? or will it still raise the PH and need to be watered with 5.5PH?

I actually just used rockwool to sprout some seedlings, I used tap water from the sink and lowered the pH to 5.5 using a lemon, a few drops will do. I dipped each cube in the water and squeezed out the excess, so that the rockwool was still wet, but not dripping.

Once this dried, I just used more tap water and lemon to lower the pH to 5.5-5.7 and used this water for the cubes.


This has worked for me so far, but I'm new at this so others with more experience might want to comment also.

Yes, any water that makes contact should be ph balanced to 5.5.

All right thanks guys . Just didn't want to throw some 6.5 ph on my little laddies and have them take a massive ph swing. Also when i transfer into soil should i gradually raise the PH? or will my soil balance the PH out by it's self? I've done a few seedlings, but i just want to make sure they are getting what they need.

I'm strictly a hydro grower, so a soil person needs to answer that one.

I believe for soil you soak in 6.5 and then water with 6.5, however I just germ and throw them in soil.

I'll water with 6.5 it seems to make sense since soil helps buffer outt the PH. When i tested the Ph of the Rockwool cube after soaking in 5.5 it was at 6.5-6.8. If i soaked at 6.5 it would probably be some crazy ass PH lol. Thanks 4 The help guys just wanted to get some quick advice.

Just use tap water at this stage- seedlings and clones, they are not using nutes so ph is of little importance.When the blades appear then make sure ph is soil-6.5 and hydro- 5.8.

Thanks Mr. Ganja i was unaware that they didn't use nutrients . I'll make sure to adjust ph accordingly.
