Hi peeps,

I asked this over in the DTW forum, but it's all tumbleweeds that way, so came over here for your thoughts.

Currently using 3gal fabric and plastic pots (4 total) with a coco/perlite mix under a 4x4 scrog with 600w hps.

I'm wanting to cut my numbers down, and might run this clone I was given as a big girl next run on her own. Just wanted you opinion on what size container to use. It's a Jack Flash cut, with a 56-64day flower. I hand water, and happy to do it regularly with a smaller pot, but may get Blutmats by then. Cheers

3 gal is fine and 4-5 total in a 4 x 4. I've been using it with no problems.

You think the 3gal will be right for a single big plant? The plastic 3.5gal pots I have would be OK I think, the fabric ones hold less media, so would upsize that if sticking with fabric - or could try an airpot... I've seen a lot of guys use 5gal+ but wasn't sure if that'd be necessary

I've been using 3 gallon super roots air pots in the same sized room. Did 4 first grow but went down to one this grow.....I think I'm going to yield more with one than the four. Next grow I'm going to a single 5 gal smart pot. Check out my journals to see what I'm talking about. The one plant filled in the room just as good as the four plants.

What I do... in DWC... Start off with 5 gallon buckets, then switch to 3 gallon jobbies for flowering. Though, have to be more careful cause they use up the water at the same rate, but there's less of it, so, 2-3 days and you're wilting the plant if you let it go.

Awesome, thanx for the input. Seems the the ball park of what I thought would be right. I'll see what I have available which best fits somewhere in that range. I'd like to continue with some form of root pruning pot, so will see what I can come up with in that area.

I really like the air pots but am going to try the smart pots next round cause I can go up to a 5 gallon without it being any taller.

12 30s? damn dude, that's nuts. I don't think I'd need to be using pots that big with coco. I've seen awesome growth from the 3 gal I use now, and thought 5gal would be the biggest I'd go. If I'm veging for about 8 weeks with a rooted clone, then flower for 8 weeks, it should be enough. Though I'm keeping an eye out for something with a wider profile, rather than tall :)

Do the roots fill the pot by harvest? 30L isn't crazy big, sure, but a bit bigger than I'd like to go. 20L, maybe 25L tops I think. Seen some guys go as big as 50, but wtf?

I'm in a 4x6x6. I've run 6 to 8 at a time and keep height down by FIMing and only vegging 3-4 weeks. I've been happy with yields and it's been better each time, but I've wondered if fewer pots and longer veg/bigger plants would improves yields over time.
