veg:

1x600 mh (soil mommas)

flower:

2x600 hps
3 30-site hydro setups

this will be going in a 6x4 fabricated room. i'm not worried about costs of room construction so much as i am just lighting and the hydro setups.

if you need any more info just ask, thanks.

well 3 lights and ballasts would be about 1k to 1500 hundred. inline fans/timers/reflective material/containers/ph meter/ppm meter/trays/pumps/air pumps/tubing hoses/ light hanging chain , nails/ screws random accesories can put u into the 3k range, for this type of perpetual system u speak of. im sure u could spend alot more too. co2, master lighting controllers, atmopheric controllers, those can come later

craigslist is your friend. also ebay

i managed to get 600w electronic ballast, for $135 each free ship!

also, got a great co2 gen for $299 + $30

Hydro setup is easy, are you going SOG?

you ca easily make a setup with buckets, they cost $1 each from home depot.

yeah, i'd be doing SOG. i entirely forgot about craigslist, good call.

i'm interested in three 2x4 foot tubs with 30 sites per unit. if i have to use 2" cups thats fine, i think i could probably fit about 24 if i used 3" cups.

ya, time isn't a big deal for me, so i can take several weeks to pick good prices and whats available locally.

If I had to jump the gun on a package or premade setup, would probably check out discount-hydroponics, they seem to be reliatively fair

I buy ballast kits for $50 with a mogul base on eBay. About $29 for a bulb. I buy Anomet spectral aluminum from the Canada supplier. http://anomet.com/cgi-bin/online/storepro.php The program for shaping a parabolic reflector is on the web for free. i.e. A good 600 watt HPS light can be put togther for about $125 to$150 with shipping costs included, once wiring etc are added.

So you got a veg and flower area but what about clones? you cant start them under HID, theyll fry. Id say get a T5 fluoro setup for moms. You can make a cheap mini-DWC (<$30) to get the clones rooted before vegging them out.

Also, whats the point of having 3-30 site hydros for flower? there is no way you could flower 90 plants under 1200 watts - maybe SOG?

This all depends on the number of plants you are trying to veg and flower and the length of your perpetual cycle. Good Luck!

you got it man, its gonna be a SOG. definitely will be building a DWC for the clones as well.

i've decided to go with a 3x24 site DWC with 3" cups. i hear the rubbermaid tubs flex when they're full so i'll have to use tuff boxes or something a little more sturdy.

You can start seeds or clone cuttings under Halide or HPS but you have to raise the lights quite high above the plants to lower the intensity and heat. That maens you are just wasting a lot of paid for wattage. Even T-5 can be too intense. Low intensity lights such as standard flourescents or CFC's are just more economical for seedlings and clone cuttings.

I have a 50 gallon Rubbermaid that I use for my reservoir for my 4x4 E&F and I built a frame around it from 2x4's - works like a charm and there's virtually no flex from the water stressing the plastic.

Also, check out my journal for a rough look at a pretty hooked-up looking grow and prices on everything - a 2x4 Sun Hut with a 400 for veg and a 4x4 Sun Hut with 1000 for flowering.

awesome, i'm reading through your journal right now.

guys, do you think i'm underestimating with two 600's for a 4x6 SOG or do you think i should be okay?
