When people talk about flowering time ,they always mention 8-9 weeks for indicas. Are you suppose to count it from when buds start to develop,or from when you switch to 12/12,as from what i have gathered it can take a few weeks for the hormones to change in the plants before they realise they are 12/12 and need to flower...am i making sense here?

I'm asking because i rightly or wrongly topped my girls 4 or 5 days into flowering and it stressed them alot they stopped growing for a week or so ,but have recovered and are now producing their first white hairs ,......3 weeks after i switched to 12/12 ..plus i can't even remember exactly how long it's been 12/12.

so is counting the weeks really important or will i know by looking at them they are ready?.
thanks

No point in counting time as the plants will be ready when they are ready as every growroom or situation/environments differ from growroom to growroom.
