when do I harvest?

hey guys, this is my first time making it to harvest!!!! I've read a bunch of posts on how to know when to harvest.
Based on what I've read, I need to wait until all or most of the little hairs turn brown instead of white.
And once most of them are brown like 70% , I should use a jewelers loop and look at the Tricomes. I read that a bunch of people go for 70% percent cloudy 30% Amber but I also read on another site that you harvest wants 50% or more of the Tricom are cloudy. I know people have different ways of doing things.
What are you guys recommendations? what Tricom do you look for, And how else do you personally know when to harvest? thanks

I also read 10% amber versus 90% milky. I think I would lean towards that as I'm not looking for CBD looking for max THC I read that when they turn Amber it's because THC is converting into CBD or something like that

Really comes down to when you are ready to chop. I dont look at trich's, just pistils. If the plant is starting to fade, and most pistils are brown It is ready whenever you are

This is a preference and situation thing.

I prefer a ratio where there's few clear trichs, majority cloudy, and some amber across the entire plant. The top gets brushed and manhandled more throuought the grow, so I might have 20% amber near the top, but the bottom is nice and cloudy with some amber and alot of clear.

I don't think you really need to check trichs. It's helpful, and it gives you something to do, but over time you will see that the plant has tons of signs to tell you it's done.

Offshoot question if your harvesting for extraction does trich age matter. Like will more mature buds press darker. Obviously the effects will differ. I imagine the same with edibles.
