currentley I use a 600w hps but i can just about control the heat. What other lights can I add in the when I flower that do not give off too much heat? I was thinking of adding a 400w or 250w hps if the weather has turned as it should be the end of summer when im ready to flower. If it gets to warm with any one of those I suppose i could use it for vegging on my next grow. Any ideas?

i have a 600w hps in a homebox xl grow tent (1.2mx1.2mx2m)

if its too hot, i ould take it out and use it for vegging on my next grow?

yeah both for flowering. but on my next grow, just use the mh for vegging then both for flowering.

If you are pushing your limits with heat now, adding ANYTHING will raise your temps.

1 - Tell me about how you are venting your tent.
2 - Do you have your 600w in an air cooled hood/tube?
3 - Where is your ballest?

ducting is being vented outside of house. I have a cool tube for the 600 and my ballast is outside of the tent, but its digital so no heat comes off it.

im using a 600w hps now but ive heard if i add a metal halide i will get nicer buds?
I added a 400w MH to my 1000w HPS flowering area 4 weeks ago. My buds are definately bigger this time, but I'm sure thats just from the extra 400watts and not the fact that I added the MH. Soon( when I have more room) I plan to test this, but for now this post probable doesn't help you much...sorry.

i have heard that a 10000K spectrum is good for the last 2weeks of flowering .

i think this is purple spectrum ???

i currently use a 600w Dual Spectrum Sunmaster lamp for veg and flower in a cooltube with RVK

Bonzi is a cooling GOD he helped me lower my temps in my closet i followed his advice and my temps dropped.
i still have to make 1 final alteration following some more of his advice and my temps will drop some more

I'm also running a 600w HPS right now in a Secret Jardin DR120W and was thinking about adding some bigger cfl's in there. I'm on my first grow and on a budget but I also do not want to half ass it either

its the same at the top but instead of an intake fan i have opened the whole at the bottom of the tent, put some mesh over it to stop the pests getting in and then having a 6" fan on the inside to blow some clean air in. My ducting goes out the window (kind of), its on the window ledge pointing out towards the open window. The tent is in my bedroom and i have the lights off between 12am-6am at the moment. I couldnt sleep properley with them on at night. The temp upstairs is 24.5 degrees in the other bedroom so its quite warm already. I also have a fan in my bedroom on pretty much all the time.

im thinking of adding a 250w or 400w for the flowering stage. If its too much, im just going to use it for vegging on my next grow.

oh and the ducting is quite long but im keeping it as straight as possible as i know kinks in it can make temps high.

the temp is 34 at the moment.

the tent dimensions are 1.2mx1.2mx2m (homebox xl)

Ok how does your room compare to this pic? What is the CFM rating of the fan.

I personally have just switched to using LEDs. I purchased one to see how it would work based on the recommendation of a friend and have been very pleased with it so far! I have five plants flowering under this 90W LED Light by eLoofa. It has a little fan on it and barely produces any heat.

I had five small plants that were flowering and I switched to the eLoofa panel. I felt it wasn't enough coverage so I actually decided to supplement the plants with two 100W CFL lights from the sides. The amazing thing is the plant still totally leans towards the LED light in comparison to the CFLs, which seems to indicate to me that it's working. They're started to produce fat buds, and there's still another month of flowering left. It's worked well enough that I just bought another. I live in a hot area so heat can really be an issue and I'm a small-scale grower and just want a personal stash. I don't want to have to deal with venting and ducting so the LED panels are great because they don't produce any heat. I'm going to be starting another grow soon using just an LED panel from seedling to harvest so I guess that will be the real test to see if it works.

I'm sorry but TODAY LEDs are not the answer. I have seen a couple of grows on this site that start great then tank at the end.
