When Should I Top??? ***Pics***

i know this gets asked 30000 times a day prob but this is my first grow and was wondering when i should top it. Thanks

i dunno what that means but i would wait ......really its up to u as to when but topping pruning lst pinching etc..... takes a plan a goal of what u want your plant to look like

i read somewhere it's after the 3rd node.

"To get 4 main colas, let your seedling or cutting (clone) grow to about 5-6 nodes and pinch out (cut) the stem just above the 2nd true node." quote from uncle ben

The soonest you want to top would be your second full set. Not single or 3 fingers, a full 5+ fingered set. As soon as you see the next set will be 5+, grab the next one.

One note on topping to remember. Top once, split the plant in two. This goes for that single main cola as well. What was once an XL cola will now be 2 lrg colas. Top one more time and get 4 med colas. Again and get 8 sm and so on. In short, each time you top, you divide that main cola so don't over do it or you'll end up with lots of sm --> med bud.

You will not get one XL cola split it and have two large cola's it is 4 Main Cola's
What was one is now 4 cola's. There is no need to stress the plant anymore by topping it twice. It will not wreck the plant, there is no need.

It's 4 main colas that will have the approximate weight of 1 original cola. You are not growing the same size bud x 4

The idea of increasing yield through topping is not achieved thru multiplication. You gain by spreading the plant out and maximizing the footprint of your light. Your 4 main buds and the rest of the plant for that matter get more light which, in turn, gives you more weight.

I top to increase yields :/ every go about it i get more finished product from topping vs not. Unless i grow outdoors. ( the plant grows fucking huge! who cares about topping )

Don't hesitate to top an outdoor plant either. Those can actually take quite a bit more topping as lumens v sq footage is no longer a variable.

Would be good, should try it. I like the big bush's 10footers
