first off i have to say this is the best web site ever! well im going to start growing in hydroponics. my method is the ebb and flow fill/drain whatever u wanna call it. my reservior is right under my growing tray. i did some timing and here it is : the time it take to fill up is 6:00 minutes +-seconds and it takes 10 minutes +- seconds to completly drain. im going to be starting them off in a rockwool then have a coco coir at the botton for the roots to grab on to something and sum hydroton to top off the top. the questions are : how long do u think i should water them for? how many times a day? does watering them during certain time of day matter? thanx ahead of time for all ur post

why would you do this? The hydroton doesn't hold water like either the coco or the rockwool. Then when your ready to harvest you will want to save and re-use the hydroton, whcih means you'll have to dig it out of the other medium. Coco makes a nice mulch for your yard plants and rockwool doesn't. Why create this problem?

[/QUOTE] I would suggest you read AL B Fucts post "How to get a harvest every two weeks. Remember he is using flock rock wool in 8" pots plus the h2o2, which allows him to water just once a day. I use coco in 8" pots and do the same. VV:hump:

i dont want to fill it up wit hydroton i just want enuff to hold up the plants im sure the coco coir will do that but to b on the safe side. and even if i did have a lot in there wouldnt the water just drain since it dosent hold n e water?? so what would b the problem? i plan to get my clones in a small rockwool cube after transfer them to a bigger rockwool cube then just put it on top of my coco coir and let the roots grow into that and spread out

I think you'll find that the coco will eventually contaminate your system and cause you a lot of problems. A friend tried a similar thing and it clogged up quickly...and he found that if the coco was too dry it will float before it hydrates fully...

good luck
