Where do you buy seeds?

im trying to find websites that have like zones for planting i believe im a zone 11 but burpee labeled me as a zone 9 o_O I can't seem to find a huge website that sells a crap load of seeds. most shops i see sell particular seeds only like cactus/succulents, flowers, vegetables/fruits. im looking for a WIDE variety of all these in seed forms.

where is a go to spot for that?

Johnny's is uber professional, it's one source us professional market farmers buy from.

Me, I see some baby in a giant cabbage and run the other way.. lol

Highmowing is Vermont and organic.

Annual vegetable,zone not so important

Day length yes on some things

thanks for the plugs imma check um out im still trying to decide what i want to grow but i just want a general idea for now of what my options are and where i can buy them easily.

I typically buy Ed Hume Seeds because they are located here in the Pacific Northwest about 120 miles north on I-5 from my house and they have varieties that have been selected for this area. They have a website but all of their seeds are available on racks at Fred Meyers or many other local garden centers. The selection isn't nearly as large as some other vendors but much of the stuff won't grow successfully here in Oregon's climate anyway. I'm in Zone 8.

yea that is kinda what im looking for the stores here sell a lot of different seeds but majority wont even grow well here. too hot and humid usually. i was looking into growing tomatoes so i can have some use for them but idk yet. looking at space and other factors im kind of fucked

Any organic produce you buy can be harvested for seeds. I save seeds from anything that tastes good. Cheapest way to get seeds and it is a healthy.

As long as they are heirloom or non hybrid the seeds will be fine. And even if they are hybrids, you can still grow them. Not all the plants will be right, but just cull any that are not like the rest. I've been growing saved seeds off my Mammoth Jalapeno for a couple of years now. They are blunter than the store bought peppers, but still basically the same.

Johnnys is the go to for all farmers I know for production crops. They have an incredible selection and a rep that is hard to beat. Even their seeds catalog has an incredible amount of information in it.
For seed saving I order from here https://www.heritageharvestseed.com/ . They have lots of rare heirlooms and I have had great success the past few years growing their vegetables.

A lot of hybrids are sterile so the seeds wont germinate so I would'nt count on them germinating. Organic seeds will almost always germinate so that is the reason I said organic, you just have a better chance of success with organic seeds.

I've grown some strange gourds too. They seem to love to cross themselves up. I had some snake and bird nest's that crossed, and they looked like a caveman's club.
