im trying to drop another 3 degrees in my flower room (4x4x7 tent w/ 420cfm intake, 420 cfm exhaust). ive managed to drop 3* by placing a fan in a precarious position to move a lot of heat radiating down from my ac tube. I removed the fan (18" oscillating) rom its base, drilled a hole in the metal stand, secured a 2x4 to tent ceiling, secured the fan metal pole to the 2x4 an hung upside down so the fan blows across the underside of the tube. im currently stable at 81/82*, but would like to see it more at 79*. so im wondering if I swap out my ac tube and drop in a hood with an fully sealed/enclosed bottom would drop a few more degrees. both hoods would be the same size, both 600watters.

thanks everyone

im out of power in my grow area for an a/c unit. minimum portable ac unit that I think will work for my setup is 6.4a 8000btu haijer unit for 299 from home depot (ac/dehumid/fan) timer, ect.

I wouldn't sweat a few degrees. Right now my canopy is easily 100+. My plants are fine. They just want water more than once a day under that heat. I run a XXXL Ocho hood and a 8x24 phresh off that and a max can fan off the end pulling through passive intake. It reduces my harvest a little but not enough for me to invest in A/C and CO2 and seal my room just yet.

thanks curious

I have my temp gauge hung 12" below my xl hood to get a slightly than higher canopy top reading. I would still prefer to drop a few more degrees for piece of mind. I think I can drop 1* when I add my scrubber to my dryer vent line. I have a 1000sq' basement, but will put scrubber close to exhaust duct work to try and pull hot exhaust air when blowing twords it. even tho, anyone have a thoughts on the ac tube vs sealed glass bottom hoods being cooler?

Your canopy is 100+ ....
At the start of this year, I freaked out when my two rooms got to 85-88 f too soon in the season...
Glad I was proactive, I lost a few plants that roots were not deep enough. I was moving fans around, leaving doors open...
The heat in the basement just went up too fast this year and caught me off guard.
Two 5000 btu AC units later... yes, Heat stress from only the upper 80's killed off some of my plants...
Now, 77-78 f is my top temp...
Save yourself some grief, just go buy a small 5000 btu AC unit, on sale for $99.00 - $119.00 [Lowes/Depot/Wally/etc]
This is the beginning of the heat season, climate change affected me, I do not see how it will not effect you.

Putting in a sealed hood will not change your room temp, you would need an exhaust hood. As previously mentioned AC is the only way real way to eliminate the heat. You need to change the temp in the room itself to use that tent, or else it will just be sucking in hot air. I never grow in the summer for just that reason. Sorry, I hope things work out for you.

I switched to my cooltube from a reg ac hood thinkin it might help drop temps a couple degrees but it didn't help @ all, realized I'm prolly gonna need a dehuey and my 5000btu a/c to run a 600w(depending on the outside temps in 6wks) I run a 400w now and temps r 84-90 inside the cab! Goodluck
