which direction to put lights?

my room is 12 x 8 and am putting a 600w & a 1000w hps into it... my question is which way to orient the lights?

12x8 says your gona use 6x4 for the 1000 watter i would use horazonal /--------/ same with the 600 watter /----------/

^^^ This! Depending on your reflectors which way you hang em. There is no right and wrong way, just a best way.

The light itself emit more radiation to its side , like this -0-. so more space left it. And better reflector is batwing.
