White Soil Mold

My 3 girls (indoor, 400w HPS) had dying fan leaves in the past few weeks as well as a small number of other leaves turning brown. Naturally I assumed it was a lack of nutrients so I picked up a CaMg product as well as a nitrogen product. I don't know if this has to do with mold, but this morning I discovered a thin layer of white fuzz on the soil surrounding the base of the stem. All of the leaves are thinning out and drying up it looks like as well. I need to stop the mold from growing anymore... as well as stop the leaves from drying up. what's the best way to save these plants?

What soil product are you using?
How often are you watering?
Have you checked the temps of your soil?

2 of the only reasons mold will grow in your soil is if the soil never has a chance to dry out completely and if the temps in your soil is too warm, these 2 things provide the perfect environment for mold to grow.

Have you checked your ph?
What is it?

i just took off the first few inches of soil and removed the heatmat, if it shows back up im just gunna kill the plants and start over with different soil

Hi all,
I to have this prob, Im growing in soil, foxfarms. Its been 90-100s here and its outside. They are in 5 gallon buckets and I was watering everyday 1 gallon per. I am now finding out I should have watered every 3rd day . Oh well rookie mistake. Now Im trying to water 1 1/2 gallon every 3rd day per. Should I dry them out longer to get rid of the white soil mold? when I go longer they wilt. Is there any other tricks?

Thanks all
DGM

put a layer of clay balls over the top of your soil, or cut mylar and place over the top of the soil to protect it from heat etc.
