White Widow CFL grow.

Hello all,

It's been awhile for me since my last grow so I'm pretty excited! I have 2 Feminized White Widows that will go into my home made hydroponic system. I'm about a week and a half from seed so they are still small. Sorry for the horrible picture quality, I've basically been living like a gypsy for the past year, and still haven't found my camera. :???: Better pictures coming soon.

I'm hoping to get them into my system this weekend (details on design also coming soon) So far I have been using a light solution of Canna Rhizotonic to stimulate some good root growth. Once they are in I will be using General Hydroponics MaxiGro for Veg. and MaxiBloom for flower. I am going to be using CFLs for both the Veg and Flowering stages and also putting them both under a scrog to maximize on my limited amount of space.

Let me know what you think!

Here are the plants again just put into my system, which is a bubbler hydroponic system. There are two 5" diameter air stones (one under each plant) in the tub. I have also included pictures of the light fixture I just built. In the light fixture I have three 68 watt (300 watt equivalent) cfls bulbs putting out 4200 lumens each and rated at 2700K. I also have four 27 watt (100 watt equivalent) cfl bulbs putting out 1750 lumens each and rated at 5200K. I know you generally want more blue spectrum for veg, but I have used this setup before and it worked out well. In all the fixture puts out about 19600 lumens on just over 300 watts.

And yes, I know I would get better results from high priced, high temperature mh and hsp bulbs, but I don't have the money of space to accommodate such bulbs.

Sup guys,

It's only been 4 days since I put these ladies in the system, but it looks like they are appreciating it! Just ph balanced my solution and dropped the lights down just a tad. Second node is visible and I am psyched to see how fast I can get them into flower. I generally put my plants into flower after 3 and a half weeks, but I feel like these aren't growing as quickly.

If you notice in the pictures, Plant B has some purple on the leaves already and looks like it has broader fan leaves, but Plant A has some yellowing in it and looks like it has thinner fan leaves. They are both in the same solution and are under the same lighting. Any ideas?

looks like you got a good start there comoc1! Keep up the good work and be sure to ALWAYS give your plants the utmost love and care.. they'll reward you greatly in the end. ;)

I'll check back in a few weeks and see how things look.

peace.

Hello again,

Thanks for posting guys. Yes Zenith, these are from Nirvana. I've heard GREAT things about Nirvana's White Widow. I'm very excited!

It's amazing what a couple of days will do for a little plant. Here are some updated pics.

Plant B is doing well, but it still seems like Plant A is having some difficulty. The jagged edges of the leaves are starting to round out and curl up. They are not dry, nor is the temp to high. I'm not sure what it could be.

P.s. What looks like yellowing leaves is actually just the lights playing tricks on my camera. I assure you they are both very green. :leaf::mrgreen::leaf:

Hello all,

It's been a week so here are some updated pics.

I just finished installing my screen tonight. It's 20"x28" giving me just under 4 sq ft.

When I go into flower (which will hopefully be in about 1.5 weeks) I am going to replace the four 5200K 100 watt equivalent with four 2700K 150 watt equivalent bulbs. This will bring my lumen count to 23000. By my calculations I will have about 6050 lumen per square foot of screen. Hopefully that will be enough to get me some decent fat nugs.

I'm also going to be changing my solution tomorrow and up the nutes a bit. I'm currently up to about 2/3 strength nutes. I'm hoping by bringing it up to 3/4 it will help these ladies fill out this screen allot faster!

Plant A is growing vertically much quicker than Plant B, but it almost seems like plant B is stunted or something. It's got some crazy dense foliage which would be great if I was growing traditionally, but for the screen it's no good. I knew White Widow were shorter plants, but man this thing is low. Plant B is at juat about 3 inches tall, plant A is at about 4.5 inches. I suppose once I start the flower it will stretch out. Anyway.

Let me know what you guys think so far.

Started training them with the screen today to get some light on the inner foliage. While bending Plant A, I noticed...BALLS!!!! So much for fems. Plant B is still looking promising, but I don't know how that happened. I may be jumping the gun, but they look like balls to me. I may use it for seeds, but I don't know yet. Anyway, changed solution today with upped nutes. Guess I'll see what happens.

What's up guys.

It's been 15 day since my last update, here is an updated picture of the ladies. They have filled the screen to about 60 percent. I'll probably give them another week before switching to 12/12.

Sup gang,

Just a few days makes a big difference. I am going to go ahead and put these ladies under 12/12 light today. Stay tuned for what should be one hell of a show for the next 8 weeks!

I've included a horrible quality reference picture. I measured the longest points of the plants and came up with 24" long and 19" wide. I don't think I ever mentioned that my total rig is only 13 inches tall. The tub is 8 inches tall and the plants are only 5.5 inches at the highest point (in the middle of the screen where they are trying to push up).

Toke up! bongsmiliebongsmilieIt's Monday!!.....and who doesn't love fucking Mondays. :-|

looking very nice comoc1 +rep! really filling out that screen! how much height do you have above the screen to the top of where your lights can go?

subbed. never really followed a hyrdo or scrog grow before so im interested to see how it turns out

Thanks guys!

ray, the reflector was pretty easy. I used a 4' piece of air duct I got at Home Depot. They sell them split in the middle so I just used 2 dowel rods on the ends for supports to keep it open and cut holes in the sides for my bulb sockets. As you can see in the picture, the duct is pretty reflective as is (which is what i used), but if you really wanted to go all out, you could cover the inside with mylar (you can use an emergency blanket, they are super cheap)

choop, I'm excited to see what I come out with. This is the first time I've used this combination of elements.

Anyway, some new photos:
