White Widow in Sunny Sheffield

Hi to you all,

first time grower here in the UK.

Two Seeds from the Dam from a mate believed to be White Widow.

Put into Growmore general purpose compost on 22 May 2008.Currently in 5" pots.

Both have germinated and will have to be grown outdoors as I have no lights or anything like that and cant really afford the big initial outlay as this is my first grow and do not have a room I could use to set up as a grow room.

I will be growing them initially in a south facing garden in one of those 4' high plastic greenhouse things.

When they get bigger I will have to transplant them out into a wood near to my home and would be able to visit Bill and Ben on a daily basis.

Sorry about the names but if a get a "little weed" from them I will be happy!

I will try and post pics as often as possible and would be grateful for advice along the way.

All the best for now

These sprouts look very happy. I like the little weed idea but hope you dont tempt fate with boys names, lol. Im sure they'll be both females from the dam.

Best of British to you:peace:

cheers Doc,

yes I should have renamed them but we burners do have a sense of humour unlike the brown and white users.

Glad you got the joke,it might be wasted on our colonial brothers across the pond.

Hope if they do read my posts they dont think im have a laugh at them, maybe they would youtube "Bill and Ben the Flowerpot men"

Just one thing now, as they are in Growmore multi compost would it be best for me to repot them in a different medium as now I have read a bit more about growing it would appear I could over neut them.

I have a garden centure only 2 mins away so no probs getting something suitable.

Sorry to you all if I appear to be hijacking this thread but Im excited at the prospect of having my own burn for once as Im fed up when theres none about which at the moment seems to be every other week.

Are you a real doc as I have a problem with my knee from running and need to be fit for the great North run.

Only joking,thanks everyone.

FLOBBLEOBBLEOBBLE, LOL

Im not sure what nutes are in the compost, i expect someting mild and that should have been used up in the first month as i understand.

What size pots you using? planning to increase to?

When you do move them to bigger pots, id try and avoid disturbing the root ball and put them into pots with a soil medium mixed with perlite and vermiculite. As they are it looks a little bit too peaty, if you keep it this way it can waterlog very easilly.

I use a medium in the ratio 1 part soil, 0.5 perlite, 0.25 vermiculite, now but just had a perlite mix for my first grow

Is this not your thread anyway? do what you want with it:mrgreen:

Hi Dr. Jones,
What do you water with? I have found a bottled water called ISKLAR, it comes from a Norwegian glasier and has no sodium and a ph of 6.5, my plants ( Ajans Haze#3) love it, and its cheap too about 60p for 1.5 liters, really does help with ph problems on the short term.

It was wasted on this colonial! By burner I am guessing you mean stoner or pot head? Unlike the brown and white users? That went right over my head.
Welcom to RIU I'll be watching how this comes along. Good luck and keep on growing!

Only joking,thanks everyone.

I just bought a fish aquarium ph test kit and some PH up and down and leave my tap water sit out for at least 24 hrs to let the clorine evaporate. Once you get used to using it, its pretty easy!

hi kitkat me again the soil i used was this Green Spirit Hydroponics after making the mistake of using cheap crap from wilkinsons, this shop is in Sheffield it might be a good idea to take a look,

i would wait to re-pot till you see root mass coming for the holes in the bottom of your pots then move them to the pots that they will stay in for the rest of the grow, as for over nuteing them i would not nute them for another 2-3 weeks by then the nutes in the soil should have dissipated or been carried away with your run off

HAVE FUN

Hi Dr. Jones,
I use tap water as well, but the ISKLAR is great. Have you ever grown a haze plant? I would like some advice on how to switch between veggie nutes and bloom, I have read up on some of it but each grower seems to have a different idea, just want a few ideas from someone who has grown Arjan's haze#3 and what worked. As a new grower I now know that sativa is not the easiest of plants to start with but, if this is a success I can experiment with other strains. I have made quite a few mistakes so far but, have learned from it all, and the plants are good and healthy and ready to flower. All advice, constructive criticism, and help is welcome.
