Ok so my outdoor plants were a little slower to flower this year and are still 2 weeks from harvest. The problem is as soon as I harvest I have to go out of town on business for a little over two weeks. WHAT DO I DO ABOUT CURING??? I have always jar cured my herb and two weeks is too long to wait to cure. Any suggestions???

someone i know just recently went through this and he said before he left for 10 days that he took jars and put a layer of paper towel on the bottom then put the buds in the jar. he said they werent moldy but a lil dry but tasted great. i use the same method for curing but i dont have the problem of leaving outta town so i was able to tend to them. basically when i do it i leave the paper towel in the jar on the bottom with the buds on top. then i burp it the first 3 days then i take the paper towel out and leave them in the jar. then a week later u cant resist not smoking it

Risk vs. Reward. Not sure im willing to risk coming home to moldy herb but I dont want harsh crispy uncured buds. Leaving it in jars wet and unattented for two weeks spells disaster even with paper towels IMO. Thanks for chiming in.

i've never been in the situation ur in, but, i think i would put them in paper grocery bags, in a cold spot, dark and with as much circulation as possible and perhaps slightly humid. put them through a real slow, smooth cure.

Ive been thinking about that also. Keeping it in brown bags to slow the drying process and hope that its not too dry and crispy by the time I get home and maybe I could still cure it. Im just so afraid of mold.

i dried some in a small cardboard box this year, just find one that is nice and thick. toss your buds in and close it all up. maybe punch a few small holes for air to flow through? have a small fan circulate air too while your at it??

Damn good thread... im in the same boat. I'm pondering a few different options... If I cut them and let them hang dry for 5 days then jar them with a paper towel would they be alright if left along for 4 days? Or cut them a lil later and card board box them for 6 days. Any thoughts? What would you do?

super dry bud is always better than super molded bud, just add moisture and start your cure when you get back, it will take longerb ut i bet you could get it to taste decent

Of course! I would much rather have super dry buds than moldy bud. Do you really think you can cure after it dries up for two weeks?? Ive read that it wont really cure if you let the herb totally dry out because once its completely dry it stops the chemical reaction that actually cures the herb.

Man you got to just have your mom, dad, brother, sister best friend uncle Joe aunt Betty, granny, grampy or cousin Earl. Anybody that you really trust and have them cure it for you while your gone and then give them some for their efforts. And oh yeah I can hear it already about the trust issue with your plants. If you don't have a least one person in your life that you trust with your life you might need to start looking for different friends or hanging around different family members.

I would just leave it on the plant and let it dry and over ripen a little there, then come home and cure.... Just did it and it was definitely the way to go.

Good idea,,,either that or just don't harvest before you leave. Another 10 days most likely won't hurt them in the least, may even bulk them up a little bit more.
