Why am I watering every day?

It seems like the soil is stil almost wet the next day after I water. Even the next three. Will this not cause root rot? Or am I being paranoid?

don't water again until your soil is dry when you stick your finger in a couple inches down. a more accurate way to measure when it is time to water is to keep a pot the same size as the ones your plants are in with a dry soil mix (same soil as you are using for your plants) in it. Compare the weight of your plants to the dry soil weight, and only water when you feel the ones your plants are growing in become almost as light as the one with the dry soil mix in it. Overwatering is the most common noob mistake.

Only water when the soil is dry dude. Do the " lift up the pot " check.. After you water lift up your pot you will notice how heavy it is, when its a lot lighter it's time to water. You will feel the difference trust me.

Water your plant completely. Next time your ready to water. The pot should weigh about 70% less before watering. Screw poking your finger in the soil.

Good luck with your grow.

So when I hear or see something slash someone say to water every day, that's a load of shite?

It all depends on your soil mix and how much water your plants are drinking. In extreme cases i have had to water plants 2 times per day, this usually happens with a very large plant in a very small container. like i said earlier, fill up the same size pot u are using for your plants with the same soil they are growing in. let it dry out completely. then feel the weight of it. water your plants and feel how much heavier they become full of water. then do not water again until they are almost as light as the container of dry soil. Eventually you will not need to keep a dry container of soil to compare it with, you will be able to tell.

Yes, plant does make a difference.
I have 2 plants, side by side, same size containers and soil, and one I water every 3-6 days, and the other usually every 5-8 days.
Only difference being, one is Indica dominant, and the other is Sativa dom.

Ok. Sounds like I've been doing the right thing letting the pots dry out for a few days then.

It also seems the plants of my first grow aren't photo synthesizing enough to keep up with the consumption levels the professional horticulture books are at.

Shucks.

Thanks and whatnot, ya'll. I keep trying to post pics from my phone, but no dice.

On a stupidly unrelated note, why isn't there an app for this feckin place yet? I mean christ's cock
