I only have one week until my supposed harvest date and all my lower buds look fucking incredible (already 40-50% of pistils have turned red/brown) but my cola has hardly any red hairs at all. It still looks fairly imature compared to the rest of the plant because its all white hairs. The cola is HUGE, just not changing colors. What should I do? I was thinking of harvesting all the lower buds and leaving just the cola to mature for another week and then by the time its ready for harvest all the lower buds will be dry already. It should also cause the plant a lot of stress so it should produce trichomes out the wazoo and its only for a week then it gets cut down so it should be fine right? Or would you guys leave the entire plant alone until the cola is mature and then harvest all at once? (i dont really want to do this since the trichomes on the lower buds will probably be amber by this time) Thanks for your advice guys

Step away from those pruning shears brother.

Do not base your decision to cut down any of your plant on the amount of brown hairs it has. This is old school bullshit!

The only way to tell if your plant is ready is with a magnifer or small scope. You need at least 15x magnafication to see what colour the trychromes on the plant are.

The trychromes look like small mushrooms.

clear trychromes = to early to harvest
cloudy trychromes = up high and active
cloudy and brown = time to harvest 60/40
all brown = Junk

Peace

Indeed I did. In fact I was just peeking at my trichomes through a lab microscope I borrowed from school today. They are looking great, most heads are about half way filled with milkyness:) and if I look around I can see one or two amber amber ones hanging around. (lower mature buds) Im gonna look at the cola tomorrow :) I think Im gonna start flushing tomorrow and harvest the lower buds in a week then keep going with the cola until it looks ready. It sounds fail safe I've just never heard of anyone doing it like this so I wasnt sure...

btw: nice avatar rd116, what the hell is on top of that bud?

good deal, getting close... Just chop the ones when they are ready and let the rest continue to finish. I do it all the time, no worries.

that is a praying mantis that was in my garden a couple years back. He is a awesome predator to bugs and other pests in the garden. He got down on caterpillars!
