will standing under HPS in tank top give me cancer?

my friend is telling me that standing under our 400 watt hps is going to give me cancer, or atleast will have negative effects on me in the long run. is this true? thank you!!!!

don't make a habit of looking at the bulb. that WILL harm your eyesight. don't touch it, it WILL leave a scar.

that's about it....

i cant believe my friend was wrong about that, he said his uncle had problems after prolonged exposure to the lights. hes turning out to be wrong more often than he is right : / lol.

Well, I'm sure it isn't good for you, but as long as you aren't spending hours each day hanging out in the direct light, it shouldn't be too risky. I do know that it will effect your eyesight eventually, and is a good idea to wear sunglasses or something with protection from the UV. Keep a shirt on and don't look at the bulbs, and you should be fine. :)

I'm not an expert here but the sun gives off UV rays which cause cancer. I don't think MH or HPS give off UV. If u have a UV bulb in ur room then yes. But I could be wrong. Either way, ide rather die of cancer growing weed then shit through a bag cuz I'm old

HPS does not seem to give off UV, which is the usual culprit in skin cancer
however, i have seen some others warn against prolonged exposure
the exposure probably won't help you in any way, the red spectrum intensity is way high
so limiting exposure can't hurt

MH gives off a lot of UV-B. That helps with resin production. also, yes, bad for you in extended periods. like someone else said, being in the sun is worse
