Wisconsin Kicks Obama in the Teeth

Public sector unions are dead in Wisconsin. Now the WH says Walker's win means nothing for November. LOL, then why did they pull out because they didn't want Obama to be tainted with the defeat?

Welcome to another consequence of Citizens United. Walker, with the help from his buddies the Cock brothers, outspent his opponents 8:1. Money talks. If you can't comprehend what this means for the middle class then you deserve what's coming down the pike.

Imagine that, a bit of sanity from the citizens. They decided to keep the guy that has been a total success so far. Numbers don't lie.

After just one year:

Budget deficit taken from $3.6 billion to $143 million without raising taxes
Property taxes lowered for the first time in years by about $47 million
Using the same calculation method that Obama uses, unemployment rates are at a 3 year low
Not one teacher was laid off in any district that was under his reforms, not so in others, in those districts class sizes are swelling

What were the horrible details of his public sector labor reform?

They have to contribute a whopping 5.8% of their salary towards their still ridiculously lucrative pensions (many of us pay 10% just to participate in a measly 401k, not even a pension)
They have to pay 12.8% of the cost of their health care premiums (most of us pay 25% or more)

Oh the aaaagggonnyyy, make the pain stop....union busting, UNION BUSTING!

We should all have it so bad.

I saw it as nothing but plain common sense. If you are spending more than you bring in you go bankrupt period, end of story, end of job. No dif than American Airlines or GM or any other union dominated org. The WH is also spending much more than it brings in with no way to end it. I think US Voters will send a message to the WH no dif than last night. Enough is enough. Greece is another example but will go the other way. Unions were very important to us years ago protecting people and kids for abusive work details but now they are bringing us down. The voter speaks, I love it.

Fact: Regardless of how voters want to view his job numbers, for months the Bureau of Labor and Statistics prove that under his Governance, employment ranks the lowest in the country. The lowest. Walker released numbers which cannot be verified until the 28th. Under Walker, even if the Governor’s numbers are correct, it actually falls short of employment growth during the last year of Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle’s administration and not even a modicum of the numbers he promised: 250,000 jobs during his first term.

Fact:
The state lost 23,900 jobs from March 2011 to March 2012.
The majority – 17,800 – were government jobs. But Wisconsin also lost more private-sector jobs – 6,100 – than any other state over those same 12 months, the government data shows.
Fact: While most States are recovering and jobs are on an uptick, Wisconsin is losing them under Walker’s leadership.

Fact:
Wisconsin lost nearly 6,000 jobs in April according to preliminary monthly data state labor officials released Thursday, putting Republican Gov. Scott Walker on the defensive as he faces a June 5 recall election.
The new data comes a day after Walker touted separate figures that showed the state added more than 23,000 jobs last year, contradicting other reports that showed a loss of nearly 34,000 jobs in 2011.

Fact:
Walker’s policies are not working.

  • April 3, 2012 Medicard Systems, Inc announced 2 workers will lose their jobs with more expected.
  • April 3, 2012 General Converter & Assemblers, Inc. announced 58 workers will lose their jobs.
  • April 4, 2012 Talgo, Inc announced 35 workers will lose their jobs
  • April 4, 2012 Joerns Healthcare Inc announced 146 workers will lose their jobs.
  • April 9, 2012 Compass Group USA, d/b/a Chartwells Operations at UW-La Crosse 270 workers will lose their jobs.
  • April 11, 2012 Care Wisconsin First, Inc. announced 10 people will lose their jobs
  • April 12, 2012 ATK – Accessories, Eagle Industries announced 130 people will lose their jobs.
  • April 16, 2012 Richardson Industries, Inc. announced 7 people will lose their jobs.
  • April 18th Lakeside Foods a Fruit & Vegetable Canning company announced 19 people will lose their jobs.
  • April 20, 2012 Sells Printing Company LLC announced 67 people will lose their jobs.
  • May 1, 2012 Mondi Akrosil, LLC announced 33 people will lose their jobs.
  • May 1, 2012 Frontier AirlinesFrontier Airlines, a/k/a/ Republic Airways Holding Inc, announced 129 people will lose their jobs.
  • May 4, 2012 Ace Distribution Services, Inc announced 11 people will lose their jobs.
  • May 4, 2012 Care Wisconsin First, Inc. announced 11 people will lose their jobs.

Fact: Poverty and unemployment is increasing in Wisconsin, while income levels are dropping, according to recently released New American Community Survey data.
Fact: Walker claims property taxes went down.
In preliminary estimates during the budget process, the Fiscal Bureau projected the median residential bill would go up. But Walker’s administration — using actual figures reported by schools and municipal governments – announced in April 2012 that the bill for a median-priced home in 2011 saw a 0.4 percent drop.
To be sure, that doesn’t mean every homeowner’s bill went down, just that a median-valued home would see a small drop. The approach is simply a way of roughly measuring year-to-year changes.
While Walker’s claim appears on target, the overall amount of property taxes collected in the state will likely go up a bit, not down.
(my bold)
Fact: Walker said, “We gave every public employee in the state the freedom to choose whether or not they want to be in a union.”
That’s false.
Fact: Allegations in the John Doe investigation range from embezzlement to doing campaign work with taxpayer money. Six of Walker’s aides are entangled in these allegations. One of Walker’s aides, Tim Russel will face a hearing today. The former aide is accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from a county fund which was meant for military veterans. Russell worked for Walker in the Milwaukee County executive’s office.
Fact: Walker continues to deny being a target in the John Doe investigation, In March, Walker opened a criminal defense fund, becoming the first ever governor in the United States to do so. According to Wisconsin Statutes, Walker can only legally open a criminal defense fund if he “is being investigated for or charged with a violation of campaign finance laws or prohibited election practices.” However, Walker continues to say that he is not under investigation by the FBI in their John Doe probe (Walkergate) that has resulted in two convictions and four apprehensions on felony charges, all connected to Walker. So, Walker is either lying or he’s breaking the law.
Fact: During the debate with Tom Barrett, Walker stated that he did not rememberthe ‘divide and conquer’ conversation with his billionaire benefactress. That leaves to question, how many billionaire donors does Walker meet asking the Governor to make Wisconsin a Red State?
Fact: Last year, Walker tried to convince the public that money would be saved by stripping collective bargaining rights from public workers. A month later, Walker admitted under oath to Congress that “it doesn’t save any.”
Fact: Scott Walker repealed the Equal Pay enforcement law.
Fact: Walker’s budget cuts billions From public education.
Fact: Walker promised not to cut aid to public schools, but he did.
Fact: Wages are declining in Wisconsin. High-wage industries hire, but wages are falling.
And final Fact: If you vote for Governor Walker to remain in office, Wisconsin deserves unemployment and poverty levels in that State.
What fuck has Walker done to Wisconsin?

Two of the really ridiculous ones:

FACT: Allegations in the John Doe... LOL, it's a FACT there are allegations, just plain stupid

And the one about freedom to decide on union membership. So, is the author saying they are still being forced to join the union as before or is he actually saying they are being prevented from joining a union?

Dems are in a tizzy because the forced collection of union dues that funded their campaigns has been stopped. The only thing that would have made last night even more sweet, would have been extended video of the sad, dejected faces at the recall headquarters.

Libruls don't get sad and dejected, they get mad. Because they are angry, hate-filled people to begin with. Have you seen all the tweets on how Walker should be killed? That's Librul sadness for you. And one MSNBC host was actually crying, and he predicted that Scott Walker would be indicted within hours.

And yet, these people wonder why we don't want their kind making important decisions for all of us.

I am all for their right to recall but now that they have wasted 50 million of the states money, money they dont have to spare, they need to respect the vote, shut up and work with the guy. People that whine after elections and protest etc etc should move to another country. We vote, the vote is it. PERIOD.

Yeah, thats smart politics man. Look at the situation objectively. It was clear pretty early on that Walker was gonna keep his position, why associate yourself with a clear loser?

I dont understand how Obama took it on the chin, in the exit polls he beat Romney pretty handily. This isnt some political harbinger of the national election, its a sitting governor beating the same guy he beat 2 years ago. The only thing this election proved is that theres an ungodly amount of $ being spent and that our democracy is basically up for auction thanks to the Supreme Court. That isnt good for ANY of us.

live your life as a gay man, a minority, or a woman for a day... then tell me again about the hate-filled liberals. Hate is a platform of the republican party. And may I also add... that obama's support last night in wisconsin was at 54%... he's going to win the state in november.

was it ok for the tea party to do what they did after obama was elected? if so, why is not ok for wisconsinites to follow a legal path to challenge scott walker?

It sounds like what you are saying is: When a republican is elected, democrats are to pinch their nose and work with the guy. When a democrat is elected, republicans get the free pass to call him/her unamerican and get to do whatever they want to obstruct.

There are plenty of gays, minorities and especially women who feel the same way I do. Obama is not going to win any of the states he won by narrow margins in 08. That includes WI, IN, OH, PA, VA, NC and FL.

The tea party didn't exist when Obama was elected. Anyway, I'm glad they tried to recall him and I'm glad they are reacting the way they are now.

he's going to win wisconsin, florida, and pennsylvania. I know thats a big statement 5 months ahead of the election... but so is your statment that he won't win any of them. I follow the political numbers daily. He has fairly decent lead in all those states... and its been pretty consistent (except for wi... where he was briefly tied with romney for a couple days but is now well ahead). He's tied in va and nc. I think he's down by one or 2 in ohio and indiana.

the tea party may have not existed the day obama was elected... but it certainly existed the day after.

I am republican and I do not support the tea party protests. I think they are stupid and serve only Sara Palins books and TV shows. I mean it man, I have not bashed Obama through his years and I hate that congress has shut him down. I am at this point. If Obama wins I am voting Dem at the next mid terms because getting nothing done is bullshit and I am sick of it. I support the one elected no matter what, I keep mouth shut and have even wrote my congressman and senators asking them to consider things. I blast the repubs that support the oil pipeline as most people dont know that in that bill that obama rejected 95 percent of the oil was earmarked for export to aisa, that would have done nothing for us at the pumps at all. When there was a giant push for that pipeline and they called me I got through four levels of supervisors before one admitted that was the case but he told me "they were un aware" he went on to tell me that they did not support that. Now that most people are aware that the export provision is in there you notice you are not hearing people bashing obama for not allowing the permit. I call a duck a duck and people that whine after the votes are counted are ducks.
