ok this is my first grow to make it this far. i have actually been experimenting alot, with out much experience, so i have killed 2 seedlings before. but due to stupid decisions

heres the situation:
im growing in an old 55 galon aquarium, next to some lettuce and a lil pumpkin seedling(funny but they love 18/6 light)
its in some old potting soil, that i took out of my garden, which has been producing nice herbs. the soil is fluffy, moist, not compact so i didnt give it hardly any perlite.
i live in S. florida, weather drops to lowest 50's ocasionally, but its about 5-10 degrees warmer in the tank due to the light.
i put a 4inch fan near it once a day or so.

i dont know what im doing wrong!!! it jsut looks wimpy. i had a seedling once that developed much faster, and not as tall/lanky as this one.
and im not watering until the top gets dry, then i give it some bottled water( i get lazy with buying a big gallon of distilled xD)

I'm guessing its your soil...

Can you bring your light closer to the plant? It's probably trying to stretch towards it.

i actually backed the light off, because i was thinking it was heat getting to it. it mite be the soil. no nutes either by the way. and also, i doubt this has any value here, but i mentioned i had a lil pumpink growing next to it, (i kno its a diff plant) but it is in the exact smae conditions as this lil seedling, and it is doing beter than my dad's outside.

TO SUM IT UP. i will brown bag its roots for now, and bring the light down on it.

more babbling: i find it weird i cant see one darn root through the plastic. once again mentioning the other plant, its bottle is almost all white from all sorts of intracate root formation. could there be something really obvious im missing?

oops i was a bit vague. and by backed off the light i mean i went from 6 inches to 12 inches away. should this lil thing have a humidity preserving dome? or iono.

a dome is not needed. what kind of light are you using?

Under watered it looks like, but the soil looks wet so maybe over watered. Your leaves appear to be showing some nutrient burn. My guess is the pH of the soil is locking out some serious nutrients.

I also suggest another light in a Y splitter just about 2 inches above the plant. Check out my threads in my signature.

what kind of soil is that?
just curious.. it looks a bit weird..
& how did you plant it?
why is it all the way over to the side?

& get a regular pot to put her in..
or at least a solo cup, where the roots don't get exposed..
also, bring the light down 2-3" away..
first, what kind of light are you using?
your light must be insufficient if it's stretched like that..
or you just have it WAY to far away..

upgrade soil & don't water it that much..
let the soil dry out completely..
& it looks like the roots don't get much air..
what's your temps & humidity?
when you water a seedling..
do what i do..
get a bottled water cap..
fill it up with water & water along the stem..
do that 4 times..
give the plant enough & not enough..
doing that, you only need to water every 2 days..

& once the plant gets a bit bigger..
you can water thoroughly..

check out my grow
she has no stretching at all..

do the lights & soil thing..
& your plant should be fine..
