would a 100 watt hps use the same amount of electricity and cost the same to run as a 100 watt cfl with a 300 watt output?

im asuming they would use the same.... if so my next grow will be hps

Yes they will both use a 100watts, but how effective they will be.... As in, Lumen output..there will be a difference.

im asking all this because i keap hearing hps cost so much more to run. but would that just be because of all the fans and all that needed to keap the temp down and not because of the actual lights.

Fans, ballasts....they dont cost that much more in relation to the product you recieve if you get me.

Both have their uses you know anyway ye watts are watts regardless.

They cost the same to run if the wattage is equal but HPS has superior growing capabilities over CFL.
