I have marijuana horticulture the indoor/ outdoor Medical Grower's bible by Jorge Cervantes. it has pretty much everything in it. it has 1120 colour images and 512 pages.
here are some chapters:
1: marijuana horticulture
2: seeds & seedlings
3: vegetative growth
4: flowering
5: harvest
6: grow rooms and greenhouses
7: outdoors
8: case study & garden calander
9: light, lamps & electricity
10: soil and containers
but yeah you get the point. there are 6 more chapters totaling 16. im not trying to advertise this book. It is a very good reference to have on hand.

In the 70's all we had was Hightimes magazines, so we did allot of trail and error

Honestly, most grow books have the exact same information. The idea of grow books in my opinion became obsolete with the innovation of the internet. In a book you'll get the growing experience and opinions of one man, here on the RIU forums and other forums across the internet you'll find the growing experiences and opinions of thousands of individuals in one place. If your slow to adopt the internet as your main source of information then just go on amazon.com and look up "marijuana growing book" and you'll get a whole list of books along with peoples reviews of them.

Not really. Books by different authors tend to look a things from differing angles and have differing focus on the hows.
Web sites contain exactly what you said - OPINION. Yes there is good info out there, but there are many conflicts too... Read some books to start!

Right on...and it's just Rik...NStein is my wife...and yeah while it's my/our third grow with MJ...I/we have been growing my/our own veggies, fruit trees, blueberry bushes and just some regular old house plants for years...so I do know I have a green thumb
and just growing MJ is therapeutic...lol...I'm trying to give some credit to my wife and her sis with the I/we shit...lmao...cause it's usually me that takes care of the bulk of things...

Hell I don't think you are even close. I've read post here I could have swore were written by preschoolers. Literally.
On topic though my wife bought me a copy of Jorge's grow bible for my birthday several years ago, but it has largely been unused. This site alone has given me more information than I will likely ever need to succeed. Plus a little comedy to boot! The age of free information via the internet has made guides more or less worthless in my eyes.
