soil mix?

hey this year ill be using my own compost which i personally think that it is stronger and holds more nutriants than bought shit.
Now my question is how much compost to soil ratio should i use. and shall i add peatmoss? what are the advantages of peat moss?

compost and peat stuf can get acidic be carefull. also the reason people use store bought soil isn`t jkust because of nutes the stuff is steralized, no bugs and stuff. i dont think compost hold moisture well iether but not sure never used it.

i use compost on all my growing. i would mix in about 1/3 perlite with well composted material. my compost usualy is heavy when it is good and black i mix in the perlite to fluff up the soil.i have never needed nutes of any kind the compost has everything you need in it. i do add some brown sugar(like molasses)to water when flowering about 3tbs/gal it seems to bulk up the buds and after a little testing i'm convinced the brown sugar makes a difference. these are all from compost and brownsugar watering

Im thinking about doing an outdoor grow also. I did some looking around and i got two answers on a soil recipe. Here they are.

#1. 1 PART supersoil,1 PART Manure(your choice),1 PART Bone Meal(dried),1 PART Blood Meal,and lastly 1/2 bag of Perlite or Vermiculite . Watering needed throughout season..enjoy! KEEP SMOKE ALIVE!!

#2 The best one time fertilizer is more than a fertilizer. I got turned onto this stuff a few grows ago. It absolutely rocks.. Blue Mountain Organics - Super Plant Tonic. You can find it sometimes on Ebay under Organic Fertilizer or Organic Plant Tonic. They do not have a website or store - a community of Hippies living in the Ozarks make this stuff. It has worm castings, coral calcium, blackstrap molasses, humic acid & mychorizzal fungi. The friendly fungi in it, break down absolutely everything present in the soil by bioconversion. So, if anything else is grow in the soil - this stuff will ensure you plants will too. Bioconversion you ask ? Yes, they eat, then poop out NPK so small, plants suck it right up. Plus they attach themselves to the roots ( the fungi - look like little white strings attached to the roots ) and make your plants plant better able to withstand dry period when little rain falls. I swear this stuff has fairy dust & troll turds in it - it's magical. Once it is soaked in good around the roots of your plants - it is like have little farmer's tending your plants - bringing in extra water from hundreds of strands of fungi tubes, supplying NPK from bioconversion, even killing off bad fungi. So, check it out. You'll be glad you did. Oh, and best part - it's pretty cheap. Thank Goodness - Hippies are not greedy....

just curious about that one time magical stuff you got there. how do you regulate what nutes the plant gets at the different stages of life. they need different micro and macro nutes at different stages as the plant goes into flower it needs less of some and more of others. eg: more nitrogen in vegging and less p/k and when flowering more p/k and less n. if it`s all in one how do you change that.

not saying it dosen`t work for you, but being an old hippie myself i`ve never heard of something like working in that way.

I guess its the same way nature does it. All it will need through its life is in there. And i guess they just use it when they need it. BTW this isnt my recipe. this is the answer i got from another user when i was on here asking the same question you were asking.

the nutrients found in the soil are different then the ones we buy off the shelf. there is hardly no nutes in ground soil ( thats why we buy soil) so there wouldn`t be a lock up problem like you may have using off the shelf stuff. just something to keep in mind.

i always think a plant will take what it needs from soil and leave what it doesnt although every situation is different. if you jack up the nutes beyond what the plant can handle it will react.
a compost with all the nessesary ingredients will be enough to grow 1 plant in its pot for 1 grow in my opinion of course

this is a false statement. There are plenty of nutes in ground soil. Why do you think there is green shit everywhere. Its just in some places the amounts, and the ph, and the airation is not good for mj.

i`m not saying there are absolutely no nutes in the ground. but there isn`t much compared to bag soil thats why everything grows so slow outdoors. and mj is a fast plant and needs more than what the ground can provide to help it grow to it`s full potential.
